Add-on frustration

DH has talked me into another add-on ( )

Thur: I talked to my guide and told him, etc. We were originally thinking VWL, but then he gave me the schpeal on AKV, developer points, we get all '07 and all '08 points. Told him we needed to discuss it.

DH decided to do AKV, more years, we just stayed there and liked it, 11 month advantage at another resort. And now that I'm working for the school district we'll be traveling more during the busy season vs. our normal 1st week of Dec. We work out a vacation for use of the '07 and '08 points. Figure out what we're going to do with the developer points, etc.


Fri: I'm all excited now and call guide back, He said no problemo... 120 at AKV, April UY. I was at work so I didn't want to give him my cc info on the phone told him I'd call him Sat.


Sat: I decided to apply for Disney Visa to take advantage of 0% interest. Got approved, call guide back last night to tell him I'll put the deposit down next week when I have my new DV in hand. No problem he says. As we're getting ready to hang up he says:

"Let me look at the inventory...whoops, looks like there's only 64pts in April '07" WHAT??? Uh... don't you think he would have checked that out on Thursday when I first called and talked to him about it?!

He basically talked in circles from that point on. I told him we were planning on using those points for a Christmas '08 trip.

"well you'll have you're '08 to use by then" Uh.... we need the full 240 as we always get a 2 bedroom (family of 6).

Well you can borrow from '09. NO, I don't want to borrow from '09, I want to use those in '09

Hey, don't forget you'll have those 110 developer points to use! NO, you can only use them at the 7 month mark and I want the 11 month window advantage at AKV!

So, he ends it with "Don't worry about it. When you get your card in hand call me and I'll check again"
I told him that when I call back if they don't have the full 120 it will probably change our decision.

I feel a little cheated and mislead. My dh says "well they'll just owe us the points!" I know it doesn't work that way, but I'm like YEAH! I got all excited about AKV and having the 11 month advantage there.

Has anyone else purchased an add-on and not gotten their full UY points?

Should I just be grateful for the 64 points?

Our experience in purchasing several contracts and multiple add ons shows that availability is subject to change at any moment, just like when you are making a ressie with MS.

What is there one minute, may be purchased by someone else at any given second. For the last BWV add on we did, we put our name on the waiting list with our guide and told him to go ahead and make the purchase as soon as our UY choice became available. When the points came in, he called us right away and we gave our credit card over the phone. I think it was a few months, but would have to check with DH on that. Your Guide should have told you right off that availability is subject to change at any time.

Anyway, good luck I hope you are able to get your points soon.

Wow... so April AKV is pretty much 100% sold out? Or is this a situation where as they build more, more points will open up?

And so so sorry to hear they dont have the points you want in hand, but I would call him back when you get your card and see what's available at that time, as Carol said, it does change moment to moment.

Yep, someone else snatched them up in the ensuing days. You might have to wait for more April inventory to open up, which should happen soon with Kidani opening by the end of the year.

We added on at BCV and it was the same issue. We decided to cobble together points in the points in the UY we wanted. I think we ended up with 4 more contracts each from 25-75 points. I would suggest taking what is available in the April UY and keep adding until you get your points. You might be surprised how quickly you can do it if you are willing to take multiple smaller contracts to get to your number.

We just attended the DVC presentation today at DLR. It was a great experience - no pressure, but we came home to decide "for sure." After reading this thread, I'm worried about our month of October for the UY for AKV; SSR was June. I know I'm ignorant, but is the significance just having to wait to receive your points? Also seeing all of these comments about add-ons, will we have enough to start with 225? I guess we had better get back to them quickly with our decision, but I didn't know if we should wait for a different month - help!

As more and more Villa's are completed and opened up, more inventory is available. right now at AKL only the units in the main lodge are open (are ALL of them open now?) But once construction is further along in the Village they can sell those Units..

That makes sense.. cant sell what people can't stay in... (or are close to staying in..

We've been tracking the progress of declared units at AKV in this thread. Posts #379 and #380 include a list of what is still to be declared in Jambo House.

Use year month has nothing to do with when you can travel or even make a reservation. YOu can ALWAYS reserve 11 months ahead of travel for your home resort. The points for that given "use year" are in that account all along. The reservation date determins WHICH use year the points are deducted from.
