Do you pay the current calendar year's dues in full, prorated or not at all with an add-on?

For that matter, what date do they base it on?

Since dues are calendar year, not use year, they prorated them to the purchase date. At least they did when we added on, but that a long time ago.

We just did an SSR add-on and they still prorate the dues.

For example, if someone purchased SSR today, dues would be pro-rated, probably beginning about May 1st, so the buyer would probably pay 8 months, or 2/3rds (that's 8/12ths) of the annual dues for that contract. If they set it up for monthly installments, they would have 8 months of dues being collected.

This would be the same no matter what use year month was being purchased. Dues are assessed by Calendar Year, not by Use Year.

The above applies to SSR and not AKV since the dues for AKV are special as the resort isn't open yet. I think all AKV dues begin on Sep 1st when the resort opens.

When I purchased my add-on at VWL, the dues were pro-rated from when I purchased (or when I got the points -- not sure exactly since I paid for the add-on in full over the phone and got the points the next day). So if you purchased a "sold out" resort (or a resale at SSR) today you would pay approximately 9-1/2 months worth of dues.

For AKV, I believe you owe dues starting from the later of Sep 1st or the start of your UY. I have an Oct UY and my account shows I owe 92 days worth of dues on my AKV add-on.

For new construction at SSR, I have no idea.

Add-ons are prorated from the date you agree to buy the add-on. If you called or are called today and agree to purchase, they prorate your add-on from today for the rest of the year (at least for resorts that are already open).

Dues are prorated from the latter of 3 dates. When you sign (not closing date), the resort opening or your unit opening.

Or in the case of AKV, the latter of your use year date or resort opening date. :shamrock:

I was told ,and actually charged for, by when I had access to use my points I was purchasing.

First purchase last year it was 1 day after I gave them my $500.00 deposit and then in Dec for my add-on 1 day after paying for the points.
