I currently own at SSR, we bought by phone and haven't been to Disney in a LOOOONG time. After researching the internet, guidebooks, forums, I've really seemed to fall in love with VWL. My DD8 surprisingly enough when we were planning a 2005 trip with grandparents requested VWL over BCV or BWV. I have a DD8 and DS4. I called my guide to waitlist for Dec. use year VWL points.
I have really heard that young kids like BWV and BCV best but my DS4 really doesn't need any extra stimulation:crazy: and these areas seem very "busy" all the time.
I am primarily looking for more points to travel THanksgiving, Christmas and think VWL would be the perfect place.
All this am I absolutely crazy for considering an add on without even seeing my options? Should I calm down and wait until after my first trip in June? What if I miss out on some really hard to find VWL Dec points? I know everyone says buy where you want to stay, I'm very confident that from what I've seen VWL is more my cup of tea. Or am I just jumping tooo fast?
HELP!!!!

The Wilderness Lodge is great, there's no doubt about that. If you really want to own at VWL and have the resources, what the heck, go for it. On the other hand, you might try booking at the 7 month window to see how that goes. I know the holiday dates fill up fast, but you never know. Also, there doesn't seem to be any shortage of VWL resales on the various reseller sites, so I don't think waiting a bit would hurt your chances of buying resale if you decided to do that later on.

You are correct about Thanksgiving and Christmas being good times at VWL. They are also busy times.

You can always stay on the waitlist and check out VWL in June if nothing has come through yet.

VWL is very unique and has a special feel to it. The theming is just wonderful. It is also very relaxing.

We had some minor issues on our last trip but the one thing my DH said was he couldn't believe how relaxing and quiet it was.

Remember, if you buy more than 150 pts you don't have to buy in the sames use year as what you have at SSR. Maybe another use year at VWL will get you points faster. 80 just came through for our use year that we are not taking.

Do what you feel is right. Buy VWL if you want to stay there-especially during busy times.

VWL is the smallest on-site DVC resort. It is a great resort. We have 200 points there and 85 at the BCV. I'm really glad that's where our bulk of points are at because we LOVE it best.

I think that 7-month window is going to get tight for VWL and BCV because they are the smallest DVC on-site resorts. With Saratoga adding more and more members, it wouldn't hurt to have some points at the VWL if you think you are going to want to stay there during high-demand times. Low-demand times might even become hard to reserve once Saratoga has sold a lot of memberships. It's going to be interesting to see what the future holds on 7-months or less availability.

If you can afford and really want to stay at VWL over the holiday times then by all means add the points, VWL/WL is a beautiful resort and next to OKW the least stimulating and most laidback of the resorts

We have not stayed at VWL but our first trip to WDW was at the WL and we fell in love with WDW

thanks

floridafam- I talked to my guide more today, I originally said I'd be interested in 60-100 points Dec. use year, When I asked about a different use year he reminded me I'd have to go at least 150 points. I can't afford more than an additional 100 points at the most right now:( What really surprises me is he has really been trying to talk me out of waitlisting for vwl. He is big on adding more at SSR, and when I was asking about a different use year for VWl he did not recommend that at all he was acting like it would be too confusing with two different member #'s. Struck me as odd you'd think he'd be happy just to get the commission but he was actually kind of discouraging me

littletink- I totally agree! I am one of those many new SSR owners who will now be wanting to book other resorts also:cool:
