Adam Levine: "I hate this country"

My opinion is that I think the majority of this country can do some very, very, very stupid things sometimes. I have been known to say "I hate people." While it's not true, sometimes I hate the very very dumb things a majority of people in this country will do. So I can understand where he is coming from.

Also, while I heard the name Adam Levine, and I know who Maroon 5 is (although, sad to say, I sometimes confuse them with Matchbox Twenty...), for some reason I never put the two things together before. Every time I see the name Adam Levine, I think of Adam Lambert.

Finally, don't watch The Voice.

I thought it was a very "insert a non friendly dis word here" to say.

I read it was in response to the voting of what ever show he is on?:confused3 BUT really I hate THIS country because some people didn't vote for your favorite person.
So defiantly lost whatever respect if any I may have had for him.

Didn't hear it the first time. He says he was joking, I believe him. I make bad sarcastic jokes like that all the time. No big deal to me.

Thoughts? I've also said "I hate people" or "I hate this country" sometimes. Does it mean I actually hate people or hate this country? Absoutely not. It was said in the heat of the moment and out of frustration.

It doesn't change my feelings towards him at all. I was indifferent anyway. People sometimes say things they don't mean when they are upset or frustrated.

He said it in frustration of the way the viewers voted I am guessing. I know the viewers vote at some point.

I can understand his frustration at the way the viewers vote. Watching some of these shows, I wonder what everyone is thinking sometimes.

I have muttered the People are Stupid phrase out of frustration before. No big deal.

Me too. :furious:

No big deal. He said it out of frustration because of the voting results. But I'm sure people will blow it all out of proportion because they won't bother to read why he said it.

Not a big deal. How many times do people say things like "I hate my boss" or "I hate people" or "I hate the DIS" or whatever. "Hate" is one of those innocuous words like "nice". It doesn't mean anything any more.

If he had said, "I love this country" with a sarcastic tone, it would have meant the same thing, and no one would have commented.

:earsboy:

I don't think he meant to make a political statement or anything. Like others said, it was an "I hate people" type of remark.

I wasn't a fan of maroon 5 or this show before, so I can't boycott anyway lol

As demonstrated on this thread already...

Oh, they already have. I think they have been blasting him on twitter and I heard some lady on the news going on and on about how horrible it was (not sure what news channel it was, I was getting ready for work and it was the back ground noise but dgd kept changing the channel! :rotfl:)

:thumbsup2

People should evaluate a remark in context, not just the words that were said.

People are seriously boycotting because of this? :lmao:

It's ridiculous that so much is being made of this. He said it jokingly, and out of frustration after 2 of his 3 remaining Contestants were sent home. Adam doesn't hate the Country. People need to put their Torches down.

Ain't it the truth!?!

I love my state, but sometimes I will be frustrated with something going on and will say "I HATE THIS STATE". I guess its a good thing I am never on a mic! :goodvibes

I'd imagine everyone has said something they don't really mean in frustration at one point or another. I know I sure have. Anyone who's not bright enough to consider the context and is going to boycott or change their opinion of someone for a comment like that...:confused3:rolleyes2
