Adam and Katie's wedding PJ -10/2/2010 SBP/SCP need floral advice!!

I think once it's altered it will be perfect:thumbsup2 I definately know the feeling though that the dress doesn't fall quite right on you and the anxiety it can produce:eek: I would start shopping around for alterations people now and just get opinions on what sort of changes they would make to the dress and then an estimate on the price. I think that will help give you the best idea of what the dress will look like and will hopefully set your mind at ease:hug:

I think the dress is lovely! :goodvibes It really accentuates your tiny waist! I can only imagine it will look even better after getting it altered. :thumbsup2

As for when to alter, hmm... good question. If you did it now, you would have to make sure you don't really gain/lose any weight by the time of your wedding, or else you would have to do some more alterations closer to. Buuut, if it gives you piece of mind that you found the perfect dress, go for the alterations now, or at least look into them. :thumbsup2

Thats more what i should say... its not that i dont like the dress... i'm afraid of it not falling the right way on me. I have two places that i was thinking about going to fo alterations... after Nov.16th i am only working four day work weeks (i get 4 weeks vacation time and had alot left over because we've been short staffed so i NEED to use it lol) and i get the whole week inbetween Christmas and new years off so i might make an appointment to check them out. :thumbsup2

Thanks Sarah! I'm glad you like it! :goodvibes I agree that from the side it looks like i have a small waist but from the front i think it looks aweful because of how it falls. The crystal detailing is supposed to be alot higher and its not.
But i definatly think i'm going to have a professional take a look at it and let me know that they think. i dont want to loose alot of weight its more toning i want to do liky my arms and back fat need to go! lol So maybe it'll be worth it for piece of mind to get it done sooner than later.

Finally getting caught up and I'm so glad you decided to have the dessert party!!

Oh and I love your dress. I think you need to stop worrying! It will look great when it is altered!

I have no idea what you are talking about when you say back and arm fat! I don't see any at all!

I think you need to speak to whoever is going to alter it to see when is best to get it done. The people who are doing mine said December is a real quiet month for them so they'd be able to fit me in whenever I wanted and they'd do it in one day, other places might not work like that though and might want the dress for a few weeks so I think its best to ask now and then get it done as close to the wedding as possible so you know it fits the body shape you'll have then.

I think the dress looks lovely on you.

Oh and I think you should go with silver waistcoats/ties with the navy tux/suit.

Your dress is beautiful. I think it will definitely look perfect when it's altered. I would try to find a seamstress now and at least have them take a look at it. If you're not planning on losing much weight, it couldn't hurt to have it done sooner rather than later. If you're in the process of losing weight, you could always just talk to a seamstress and maybe they could at least pin it for you so you can get an idea of how it'll look when it's done.

You look so pretty in the dress!! I love the crystals! I'm going to go against the other opinions and say wait to get it done....unless your the kind of person who is always the same weight. Or else you may end up paying twice.

Oh, and I am MAKING DF go tanning!! I told him he has to or else he will burn in Florida before our wedding and ruin our pictures :rotfl:

Well thank you for saying you like the dress! And i agree that it does depend of what needs to be done and how much time it will take. I'm emailing a women that came highly recommended to see if i can just bring the dress is and show it to her to see how much it will cost and when she'd need it to do the alterations.

I was thinking of doing the navy with silver but should i do DF in navy blue and maybe white? or cream? or should i keep them all in the same?

Thanks Karen! I love the crystals too... they are so sparkley in person! :cloud9: If i can i'm going to wait to have the alterations done but i'm going to try and get in contact with a seamstress now just to get the ball rolling.

and I am working on forcing the tanning! DF burns too and i am going to try my hardest to get him to tan just a few times to get a base tan. I might have to bribe him though, maybe a new xbox game, or something

Thanks for all your help girls!!!

I definitely agree, you shouldn't have any problem with the alterations. I love You might want to contact a regular seamstress directly. I have one that we had worked with on things for years (all the way back to my prom dresses) that I had alter my dress. She does a lot of wedding dresses and I'm sure you could find a good seamstress in your area too :thumbsup2

Your dress is beautiful, I love the crystal beading that you have on the waist and down the sides :bride:

Oh Katie you look so pretty in it! (I thought your hair looked nice) I think it will be awesome when altered! don't worry my dear! Of course it looks silly now, but they can do wonders. I love it. I don't know that much about getting it altered my shop is doing that for me. but I am going 6 months before mine and then again like 3 weeks before...but I am also planning on loosing 20 more pounds before mine....soo....you are going to be different. I say get someone to look at it. see how long it will take

Thanks for the advice vanessa. I never had to have my prom dresses altered so i dont know anyone personally but i'm going to contact the women my friend used. It is far from my house, but i think that it'll be worth it to have someone do it that comes highly recommended and i've seen her work.

I'm glad you like the dress too! :goodvibes

Thanks Jennifer!

I really do love the dress, i've heard that a good seamstress can make anything work on any body type so i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Dress is beautiful hun! Really nice! Can't believe you got it from ebay at such a good price. I am going to go and have a quick look now too!

Think your hair is at a great length and thickness to do pretty much whatever you like.

Thanks hun! I definatly recommend ebay! My dress still has tags on it and is it perfect condition! I just couldn't see spending alot of money on a dress for such a small wedding.

You are so right about that, you sound a lot like me. Sensible with your money x

Oh yes! Df and I are pretty good with our money... we're going to make our wedding exactly what we want but also making sure we dont regret spending too much money. Its a fine line but i think we're making it work!

Oh Katie... i meant to ask you... Did they charge you to upgrade your bridal bouquet?

No, there was no extra charge. The only extra thing I paid for was $3 for the crystal Mickey and that was a total waste of money.

The dress looks great! So pretty...I love the bunching at the bottom. I also love the Audrey Hepburn pic on the wall :rotfl: Nice decorating!
