Adam and Katies 10/2/2010 SBP/Attic/?? ~ brainstorming!

The third comb will look great! Gotta love ebay!

I vote for the third invite, it just has more too it.

LOL!!! :lmao:

I didn't care for the 1st one, LOVED the second one, and liked the 3rd one. I feel like Goldilocks!:rotfl:

I like the first one but its just very plain... here isn't really anything to it. I love the second one because there is something to it other than wording. and the third one is okay but again it just seemed really plain. I don't know we'll have to see how they look in person when they get here. I'll take pics and post them when they come in!:thumbsup2

I like invitation 3 the best. It's a good compromise and I like that it's in your color. :thumbsup2

I already told DF that I don't like very plain invitations and he luckily agreed that he likes a little pizazz to them. I know he's going to fight me on the wording though, he's going to think it's girly and cheesy :confused3, but hello, it's a wedding! It's supposed to be a little girly and cheesy!:rotfl2:

I think it's a good idea to go with wording 3, I wouldn't want to use that other girl's wording even if she weren't going to the wedding, I'd want mine to be different but I'm stubborn like that.

I'm glad to have said what you were thinking! Seriously though, how is that a fairy tale at all? I like that quote a lot, but unless you are marrying a real live prince or some type of royalty, having your wedding in a castle, or getting married at Disney, it doesn't really apply. ;)

I agree!! wording on wedding invitations SHOULD be atleast Alittle girly! :cutie: I wish DF wanted Pizazz on our invitations but oh well... marriage is about compromise...

I like the 3rd invitation:thumbsup2

Thanks adelia!! :goodvibes

Thanks hun! The other two hair comb auctions have ended so i'm commited to the third one now! :yay:

Ok so seriously this wedding is driving me to drink!!!! :lmao:

I'm trying to keep my head up, but there has been more nasty negative chatter amoungst family members that has drifted our way. This is was my initial reaction..... But after a 20 min. session of fetch with Toby i calmed down and i was starting to feel more like this again :cool2:

I went in and was talking to DF about how we could maybe start working on the home reception so the next time some negativity comes at us we can reply with "well here is when, and where the home recpetion is, if you honestly don't agree with the ceremony part of our wedding than don't come, we'll see you at the reception. :snooty: " So we were trying to brain storm ideas on how we could have the party at our house...... We failed miserably :headache: I just dont see how everything will work out. not to mention we realized that there are a ton of things we'd need to rent on top of the tables and chairs we had already accounted for. I mean we only have 4 dinner plates, 4 bowls, 4 salad plate, ect... you get the picture.
So i started looking into places in our area that might be cheap enough to rent... like a VFW or a KC.

I found a place that looks like it'll be perfect for us. We are about 10 mins from hampton Beach which is a really cool beach and we frequent it A LOT! There is a hotel there that is seperated into two buildings, the hotel rooms are in one building and the other building has about 5 function rooms of all different sizes and a really swanky restaurant. One of the function rooms hold 50 people (which is great because i have a reason to put a stop on the unnecessary invites) and to rent it on a sunday is 300$ from 11-4. I looked at their menu options and they have a nice buffet for 37.95$ a person. So if all 50 people come it'll be 2100$-ish (thats without tax) I figure if we did something like that it'd be roughly the same as having our home catered and renting all the stuff we'd need. Right?

I showed this to DF and all he keeps seeing is $$$$ and since we can't really get a Number for how much rentals and catering would cost us at the moment, he is seeing this idea as just another expense. I need some adivce/help with this. Can any of you shed some light on the pros and cons of both options? :confused3

Keep in mind i'll probably not get a DJ i'll most likely just make a playlist on an ipod. I was going to try and re-create our wedding cake to save on that expense. And we had already decided on a candy bar for favors and i found a really cool website to buy bulk candy and i found a seller on ebay who sells those chinese take out boxes in fushcia for a decent price.

Thanks again for all the help girls! :grouphug:

I vote for renting some place. Do you really want to set up, take care of everyone (play hostess) AND clean up afterwards? Even if you have someone come in and put up the tent and cater, there are still things to clean up and take care of. If you find a venue, you can cut out all that stress!!

I googled some stuff...not sure how close they are to you:

I thought this one was cute but not sure how far from you it is;
Davids tavern

Mandy you are so weet to google things for me!

Ashworth by the sea is actually the place i was talking about! But i'm going to look into David's tavern. Newburyport is only 10-15 mins from me just in the opposite direction. I hope i can talk DF into this because you're right about clean up and break down. I still wish we didn't have to do any of it but i guess we owe it to the rest of our family.

thanks for the help I can always count on ya!

Anytime!! People at work make fun of me because I can find just about anything on Google!

:rotfl2:

You really should become a wedding planner! I'd hire you in a second :cutie:

I'm going to call some of these places, tell them the situation and what i'm looking for and see what they can do for me. If i could get something under 1500$ i'd be psyched! I think i read that the tavern had pretty low minimums so that might work out perfectly! i can't wait to show DF tonight! :goodvibes

My dream job!!!:lovestruc

Can't wait to hear how it works out!!

I second the rent some place. It can get pretty costly to rent tables and chairs, plates, silverware, etc. Plus catering, playing hostess, and cleaning...it seems more worth it to rent. JMHO

honestly-rent somewhere...the cost to get everything seperately at your house wont save you much ( if it doesnt cost you more) then on top of it you have to worry about weather..and weather in this area on oct/nov is wildly unpredictable...well lets face it ..weather any time of the year is crazy it could be 80 or it could be snow...your sanity is worth the money

I'm agreeing with all of you! I started to talk to DF about this but i actually lead to a huge fight....:sad2: I think we're both so frusterated with the whole thing and it hurts both of us to know that we're really only doing this to quiet some of the issues that unsupportive famile members are throwing at us.

Thankfully the fight is over and the outcome was a good one. DF told me that he really really loves the idea of the disney wedding and that he gets excited going to work in the morning for two reasons.... one: lately the weather has been very humid here and everymorning he goes outside and he says it reminds him of disney..it reminds me of it too. Humidity has a certain smell to it (as well as a feel to it :rotfl2: ). Two: he is one day closer to disney and the wedding. He said that he was really spoiled that we went two years in a row and now its hitting him how long we have to go to get back there. He said he misses how everywhere you go there is music playing and how everytime we go there we never fight and have nothing but an amazing time. I started to get all teary! :cloud9:
He told me that we set a budget for the wedding and honeymoon... he wants us to get everything we want out of our wedding day with the budget in mind of course. Once we have everything planned with disney and we know how much we have to spend we'll see if there is any money left over, if there is we'll see about planning a home recpetion... if there isn't, well who cares.... we shouldn't take money away from what we really want to do to make other people happy. :snooty: I can't tell you how good that felt. He said worse case senario we throw a christmas party the following december and invite the extended family and hope that they come in shifts :rotfl2:
I feel alot better. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. :goodvibes So we're going to keep those places in mind for if there is any extra funds lying around and we'll see what happens. but DF would rather be looking into ADR's and other fun disney stuff right now

Thanks again for the help though girls. And Mandy thanks for finding Daves Tavern! I'd never heard of it and it was better priced :thumbsup2 If we have the extra money he said we could definatly look into have it there!

Your DF is totally right, hon! This is about you two and what you both want. Eff other people's attitude towards it! Use all your fundage towards making your wedding beautiful first. If there is leftover money for the at home reception, then so be it! Glad the situation seemed to have worked itself out for now!

I'm sorry your also going through this! It is so hard, because on one hand, you are so excited about the disney wedding, and on the other hand, people bring you down about it. It looks like you are making a really good decision. We are doing the same thing. We were originally going to cut out the dessert party and MK shoot to have the at home reception, but then we thought f that, we are going to do what WE want, not what other people want.

I really think you are taking a good approach to it right now though, and you are giving me some hope! :goodvibes

He definatly is Anj,
I am very lucky to have him... maybe not so lucky to have his family.... :rolleyes1 But i agree that most of the funding should go to making us happy. This is the one time people get to be alittle selfish so i'm going to take full advantage! ;)

Girrrrrrl, we need to start a group....

Hi my name is (insert name here) and i'm a disney wedding that no one approves of."

"Hi (say persons name)"

I think this will be the best thing for DF and I. No matter how many times i think i've finally got to the point where i just dont give a (bad word) someone says something that gets me all upset again. I hope i'll get to that point and soon because i can't take much more of it! :lmao: But i have a feeling it'll come for me AND for you hun!

Happy saturday ladies!

a few things...

first i lost the auction for that hair comb :sad2: but i'm not getting upset, if it wasn't meant to be it wasn't meant to be.

second DF and I started going through our stuff and put a ton of stuff on ebay. All the money we get is going into the wedding fund. :thumbsup2 I'm sad to see some stuff go like my clarinet but ever since i graduated high school i haven't touched it and i have no where to play it so instead of letting it collect dust i hope it'll help another student that wants to be in a school band.

Third I emailed the private events coordinator for the swan/dolphin. After looking at Katie's (prinessshea) reviews of the place and since she's an OCD bride after my own heart (i say that with love) i think having private dinner at bluezoo might be a good idea. DF still isn't keen on the whole FF rental idea because he thinks it'll be wierd to be in an "abondoned restaurant". I asked him why he keeps saying "abandoned" when clearly it just doesn't open until dinner time and he just replies with "i think it'd be weird". Whatever, i'm still trying to find research on FF and see if i can find another bride who's already done it. We'll see what kind of information i get from the events coordinator at the swan/dolphin though.

and fourth Instead of doing a DP i was looking into maybe doing an illuminations cruise. The pontoon boat only holds 10 people so we won't be able to know if we can do it or not until we know for sure who is coming and who isn't. The other option is the grand yachet 1 for a wishes cruise but thats just as much as a DP so i dont know about that yet.

YAY!!! Happy 6 months until you can book!!

I understand what your DF is saying about the FF and it being weird about being "abandoned", I was worried about that too. But from pictures I have seen, it looks pretty cozy anyway, plus it could be kinda fun!!! (And the buffet area would probably take up a lot of the restaurant). Swan and Dolphin venues could be fun too though, although I think their minimums are a bit higher. As for the dp vs cruise, I think that the cruise is quite a bit cheaper (from the research I have done!). But you should do what makes you happy :goodvibes

Happy Six Months until you can book!!

Have you thought about Shula's?? I know your df wants steak :lovestruc

I thought I had info on it. Il Mulino might be a choice for you too!
