Adam and Katies 10/2/2010 SBP/Attic/?? ~ brainstorming!

Katie, the veil is so pretty! The previous pictures did not do it justice at all! I cannot tell a difference in the color either, but you have to do whatever is gonna make you happy on the big day! :)

Thanks heather! :goodvibes I think its perfect with the dress... i dont see a difference so i'm going to stick with it!

I brought the veil into work today and everyone loved it too :cloud9:

i dont think i see any color difference....i love it!

the only thing would be if you can see it and it bothers you

I thought I would share something with you lovely ladies because i find this absolutly hysterical!

DF's best friend is getting married tomorrow and DF is best man. For the past few days i was getting alittle upset because he is attending the rehersal dinner and rehersal, and i stated to feel like i was missing out by having an escape wedding. I kept having visions of this lovely rehersal and a beautiful dinner after at a swanky resurtaunt and having a large bridal party.... it was just depressing!!! :sad2: While DF is 2 hours away with his BF i kind of had a mini melt down, cried alittle bit, and then said "ya know what I need?? A sign!" I'm not a very religous person but i do consider myself spiritual and everytime i have asked for a sign i've gotten one.

Well OH BOY DID I GET ONE!!!! About half an hour ago my cell rang and it was DF. He said he was on his way from the church to the dinner. So i asked how the ceremony dry run went. These were his exact words..... (And i really hope this doesn't offend anyone )

"Katie, Its a red neck wedding"

I said excuse me???

"he said oh yea this is so insane you dont even know!"

The day before DF left to go down there he asked me what he should wear to the rehersal. I said khaki pants and a nice black or white button down shirt. Well apparently the brides dad wore steel toe work boots, oil stained jeans, and a shirt with a wolf howling at the moon on it. (i'm laughing even now as i type this) He also told me the bridesmaids were completely obnoxiouse and not that great to look at (missing teeth :rolleyes1)

I couldn't believe what i was hearing... I tried not to laugh too much at DF and i managed to ask him "So are you sure you're not going to be sad we don't do all this for our wedding?" He said "absolutly NOT, our wedding is going to be so much better than this i wouldn't give it a second thought after seeing what i just saw!"

He then told me they were pulling into a strip mall and he thought they lost someone who was following them to the dinner so he'd call me later.

So i figured that was my sign.... but OH NO! There's more!

DF called me back 2 seconds later and said "ummmm we're here... the dinner is at the Peking Buffet which is in this strip mall next to a super cuts and auto zone." :lmao:

I burst out laughing! Here I am thinking i'm missing out on this extravagant rehersal dinner and all these great things by not having a traditional wedding. (I'm honestly not laughing at the people involved i know them and they're great people so please dont take any offense to this and think i'm snooty or something i'm laughing at how stupid I am for thinking the way i think! :upsidedow)

So after getting off the phone with DF I am so happy we're having an escape wedding in disney. And whoever it was that slapped me with that sign, whether it was nana, pa, or any of my other relatives that have passed on, that was awesome! :rotfl2:

So thats my story for today... i wont be on tomorrow as i'll be at the wedding but once this wedding is over and DF doesn't have to worry about the speech anymore he promised me his full wedding attention! :goodvibes I can't wait to have more wedding meetings with him to plan things! :woohoo: We may not be having a rehersal but we'll have a "day before" dinner somewhere good!! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: i was going to reply on fb...which i will as well because not all of it will make sense here...but im sorry...i know your day was not going so great...but this had to make up for it :lmao: im sitting here with my cat (who sprained his knee cap..again..who knew cats had knee caps :confused3) and i cant help but laugh and think of like those crazy hick bridezilla brides on the bridezilla show...

hahhaa or...oh what i could say..may go on fb

:lmao::rotfl2: LOL! That's so awesome! I'll wait to see their wedding on Redneck Weddings! Haha!

Oh Katie that is too funny!! I posted on my Pj this morning about a wedding we just went too...not nearly as bad as your story...but made us thankful for our own wedding!!!:rotfl:

Just popping in again. Love that veil. I couldnt see any color difference either.

Too funny about that wedding.

We are having a quite different wedding too with my bil and his girlfriend. She is wonderful and actually too nice for him.:lmao: But just three weeks ago they decided they are getting married on July 18th at their house. But they have limited funds so everyone is pitching in. DH & I are getting the tent, DMIL is buying the cake. DSIL is buying the flowers etc.

We keep joking this is a shotgun wedding!!!

I wished they would have had an escape wedding down in Disney so I would have had an excuse to go back!!!

Ok girls i'm back from that lovely redneck wedding!

The highlights:

DF's Best Man speech was awesome! I helped him out with it and he got nothing but laughs from the guests. I was so proud of him!:woohoo:

Dancing with DF was great! :goodvibes we dont get alot of oppertunities to dance but when we do we really have a good time!

The groom's guests consisted of his mom, mom's friend, aunt, aunt's driver, mom's cousin and husband, and me. So we all sat at the groom's family table and made fun of everyone else at the wedding! :thumbsup2

The Cons:

Absolutly AWEFUL food! :scared:

There were a few guests that stood out... one wearing jeans and a t-shirt, one wearing jeans motorcycle boots and a harley davidson button down shirt, and a women wearing men's boue plaid board short a white button down shirt and boat shoes. (I felt over dressed)

The songs they picked for the ceremony were terrible! When the bride came down the aisle it wasnt to "here comes the bride" or Pachelbel's Cannon in D or anything nice it was some wierd civil war wedding march that sounded more like a funeral procession to me and the rest of the grooms family! :rolleyes1

Other than DF and I, the bride and groom and 5 other people NOBODY danced!!! I felt so bad. DF and I felt obligated to stay on the dance floor even though our feet were killing us. :sad2:

After the food was served 75% of their guests left... :scared: I felt really really bad for them. they had 160 people!!!

Overview:

The bride and groom had a good time regardless of what everyone else was doing so i'm happy for that! But this was a great eye opener for DF and I. I mean if only 10 people were at the dance floor and they had a guest list of 160... what would've happen at the wedding we were going to be planning here with a guest list of 75?? :guilty: And How many people would leave our wedding early? The church they were married in wasn't that pretty to me... it was very old and small and just not what I ever imagined myself getting married in. The reception hall was ok but they spent alot of money and had crap food and their centerpieces were just a single candle in a glass vase.

For them, the wedding was awesome and something they'll cherish for the rest of their lives together, but to adam and i, spending that kind of money (we're talking 20 thousand Big ones! :scared:) for that kind of wedding isn't worth it. We are definatly glad we're doing what we're doing! An escape wedding is going to be perfect for us! :goodvibes Disney is amazing at accomodating people and I think that they do an amazing job at making every single wedding beautiful, whether its an escape, VR, or wishes. Not to mention everyone at the groom's family table asked about our wedding and when i told them the plan they were all saying how they hope their children do something fun like that instead of a wedding like the one we were all at! :rotfl2:

Sadly i forgot my camera in the hotel the day of the wedding  So i dont have any pictures but i'm sure adam will get some since he was best man.

Thanks so much!!! :goodvibes I think even if we didn't have limited funds we'd still be having our escape wedding! Its just more "us" if that makes sense. But thats so great that everyone if helping them out!

Happy Monday ladies!!! :goodvibes

I posted a question on the main weddings board about wanting somewhat of a small reception after our wedding. I was thinking about having a brunch after the ceremony and pictures. Do any of you have any ideas for me? I was thinking about the St. James room but i dont know the cost. Another Diser said maybe use the flying fish because their F&B minimum is 1000$ and i'd have the place to myself. What are your thought's

I heard St. James was only $650...not sure where I am getting my info though :rotfl: I can't remember how many people you have coming but the Chefs Domain at Citricos has a minimum of $650 but can only hold 12. The Gardenview Tea Room at the GF has a $500 minimum 11-1. What about Raglan Road? We were thinking of using that when we planned on an Escape. Or what about a Wishes Cruise???

Thanks Mandy! That really helps! Those F&B mins aren't that bad at all and I can't wait to tell DF that we can afford to do this! :woohoo: I'm going to go to some research and look at what those rooms look like! :lovestruc

thank you thank you thank you! :worship:

Do you have Carries book?? A lot of the info is in there :) I always loved Citricos...that's my vote!

No but i really do need to get carrie's book! I just looked at some pictures and i definatly think the st. james room would be lovely!:lovestruc I saw a picture of the long roman table set up outside on the patio with the buffet on the right hand side.
I just think it would be easier to have a brunch immediatly after the ceremony and then go into the parks than everyone going out into the parks and then trying to get them all back together again for a dinner. But then again it would be cheaper to just take everyone to dinner... But i also want to wear my dress for as long as possible... I also want to give the illusion that i actually is a recpetion... but is it in the budget.... :scared1: HELP ME!!!
