We're thinking of adding approx 130 pts to our DCV ownership. Questioning whether to go through Disney or not. We currently have 170 pts. @ BCV. My wife and I visit for about a week twice a year -- early Spring and during Food & Wine Fest. We've always taken a studio and have had no issues. Thinking of including family or friends on our future trips and can be tempted w/ a 1 or 2 bedroom unit. Any thoughts? Exploring ideas. Thanks

Hey...you live by ME !! YIPEE!! :Pinkbounc

Well....

I just got 70 of my 100 pt. add on request, through Disney.
I have been on the "add on wait list" for 11 mos. and 11 days and it finally came through!! :cool1: :cool1:

YES...still waiting for 30 more........ :faint: :faint:

I also got on the TSS's "wait list" in July. I would suggest getting on both lists and see who comes through first!!

Be patient and Best of Luck !! :jumping1:

Well you own the best DVC Resort IMO. :sunny: Maybe the extra 11 years will entice you to go through Disney and add on at SSR. I am not a fan of it per say but I do own my points there. It would be much more appealing to me if I didn't have kids. It would be a great resort for an adult trip being so close to DTD. In your situation I'd suggest a SSR add on. Good luck.

:sunny: I would go through Disney. We have done it both ways and Disney deal is cleaner and you can use your credit card to pay of finance it if you want. You get the use year you want also. I could have gotten my use year through TTSS, but I would have had to wait longer. We got our paperwork and goodies (bag and glossy folders) in a week via Disney. Timeshare Store took over 6 weeks to close and got only paperwork. Disney is set now at $92 pp except for SSR. It took me one week on the list to get 100 BCV points with my use year. Good Luck!

My view is there is no right or wrong answer. Here is what I would do, for what it is worth. Call Pat at the Timeshare Store. Explain what you want to do. Do you want to add on at BCV or at another resort or does it matter to you. Is use year an issue for you. What is the range of contract size you would consider given an optimum contract size of x points. See what they turn up over 90 days or so.

Then you could keep waiting for a resale opportunity or get on a wait list at Disney and see which comes through first.

Having bought and sold with Timeshare Store I know they will do well for you. We have also bought direct from Disney, including a main contract at BCV and small waitlist add-ons there and for our OKW resale.

Food for thought:
-Do you want another contract at BCV? If so, resale may be easier, depending on what DVC has available in stock. Also, Disney will not "push" other properties besides SSR right now, so getting them to admit to having points at another resort may be tough.
-Is financing an issue? Disney will help you with financing, via loans etc. Resale you need to come prepared with some sort of financing.
-Are you interested in an extra 12 years on a your contract? If so, then buy SSR new through Disney, since the incentive they are currently offering beats any resale price for SSR at this point.
-Do you need to be able to use the points right away? If so, buy through Disney because they will actually let you use the points while the paperwork is in process. With a resale, you have to wait until the sale is complete and recorded with the appropriate county department.
-Does it matter to you to get the cute little propaganda stuff that Disney provides when you purchase a new contract? If so, go through Disney.

Best of luck in your quest.
