Actual Crowd vs UG Predicted - Monday 18 April

The UG was completely off when we went March 28th to April 1st, although I wasn't surprised.

So does it look like next week will be about the same as this week or worse?

I guess at least I can say I'll be at Disney and not at work!!! :badpc:

I think every county in Maryland is different, but our last day is June 15.

Same here in our part of CT -- Last day of school is Wednesday, June 15. We didn't lose any days for snow, or it'd be even later.

The last day of school for NYC public schools is June 28 and we didn't have any snow days.

My son and I will be adding to the crowds next week. :cool1:

June 28? Wow. NY must return in September, right? Here in North Carolina, kids are off sometime around the first full week of June, and go back the last week of August.

Yes, we start school the Wednesday or Thursday after Labor Day.

I went to college in Raleigh. My son and I lived there for 9 years before I moved back to NY. I could never get used to going back to school in August. However, I loved getting out in early June and the long Christmas breaks.

I just wanted to chime in and say "Thanks!" to Len for providing this info. Even though I am not going to WDW this spring, I am fascinated by the science of crowd level prediction.

Thanks Len for giving us the "up to the minute" info! You guys are great!

I'm just wondering . . . if everyone starts listening to UG, won't the best days become the worst days?

We were there after Easter, and I followed the plan and it was so great! Now I am wondering how many people will catch on and ruin the plan for my upcoming June/July trip! :-)

To paraphrase what I remember from the UG: "There are so many people at a theme park that those using the UG tips and touring plans will always be a very small percentage of attendees." Just like here on the DIS - there are about 600 DISers going in May; spread out over the whole month, that's a hundred or two each week, which is a drop in the WDW bucket.

Rest assured that if the Guide becomes so widely read that it starts to influence WDW traffic patterns, we'll still provide advice on how to beat that crowds. But that advice will be coming from our beach houses in Barbados, instead of our offices in Alabama. :)

Some secrets are "getting out" -- early December used to be one of the very slowest times at WDW, but people are catching on and it isn't as slow of a time as it used to be!

I've also heard "going to the left" (instead of the natural right) is getting to be a more widely known thing to do.

It doesn't help when I (and I'm sure many of you) spread the word and give advice to everyone we know (who's willing to listen!), not to mention when I respond on these boards and give trip reports! But it's so fun!

Just wondering if we're going to keep getting up-to-date info?? :teeth: We'll be arriving in the World on Sunday and I'm checking these boards constantly to see what crowds are like now.

Yes, we'll be updating as the week goes on. I haven't yet checked to see if anyone managed to get wait times in the MK today, but we've got someone in the MK every day for the next two weeks.

Not that I haven't caused enough panic this week, but if you're in an adventurous mood, try booking a Disney resort in Expedia for the first two weeks of May, and see what's available. The weekend of the 13th and 14th is almost booked solid. So far the only thing I've seen available is OKW and two of the All Stars (Mo is sold out). What's going on that weekend? I'll finish the rest of the month and post to the blog.
