Hello,

My husband and 16 year old daughter are arriving on a Thursday morning at 6am in October. By the time we check into POR it will probably be 7-7:30am. Our room probably won't be ready until close to 3pm. Is Downtown Disney open? I think the restaurant reservations don't start until 11am. We are attend the MK Halloween party entering the park at 4pm. What can we do all day? Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!:dog2:

Tour the resort you're staying at, or do the monorail loop, & explore the GF CR & Poly. You'll discover fun & new things... Or you can still go to DTD ,Plenty to do down there. Maybe play minigolf too. Just lounge around the resort, Enjoy the amenities, or soak up the sun & take a dip in the pool...

There's a ton more if you need more advice..:thumbsup2

Visit DTD.
Have lunch at DTD or a resort.
Ride the monorail system.
Visit the Deluxe resorts.

Horseback riding at Fort Wilderness. Go early (10:00 a.m. or so) and you should see deer and some other wildlife. We did it and had a blast! Very relaxing, but lots of fun too.

I would explore the hotel a bit then take the boats to DTD. It is a lovely ride! Have an early lunch (I would ADR just to be sure) then back to the hotel to settle in. I think they will either call or text you when your room is ready and you might be surprised and get in a bit early! We have arrived as early as 10:00 AM and in all of our trips to WDW we have never had to wait to check in. You might be right though .... 7:30 AM is a bit early!

I always have our swimsuits and a change of clothes in our carry-on - just in case our luggage is delayed or if we decide to jump in the pool before going to DTD for dinner.

If you are going to the party and stay up late I would keep it simple. I would actually stay close to the resort since the room could be available early. Maybe breakfast and then hang out by the pool or go to DtD.

They used to have fishing excursions. I think these were early in the morning. Tea Time at Grand Floridian .

We have had good luck with our rooms being ready well before 3pm, so it's quite possible you may get to check in early. In October, it should still be warm, so maybe hit the pool for a few hours and relax? Shopping and lunch at DTD would be good too

Don't count on the room not being ready. We have been able to check into our room really early (7:30ish) 3 of the 4 times that we tried at POR (2) and CBR(1). If it is ready bonus, if not would highly recommend resort tour, boat to DTD, you could always catch a movie at AMC - super early matinee, bowl a game or two, hit the mini golf course and just window shop.

I'd head to the pool until midday, change and have lunch in DTD and then head to MK around 3pm

How do you visit the other resorts? Is there a disney bus for that?

Take the bus from your resort to any park, and then take a bus (or monorail or boat, depending on where you want to go) from that park to the resort of your choice. If you wanted to do the monorail loop, I'd take the bus to MK and then hop on the resort monorail there. AKL is another nice resort to visit since you can view the savannah from many areas.

Breakfast at Boatwrights
Boat to DTD
I think the big Balloon there opens at like 9:00am.
Shop and see a movie at the AMC dine in at DTD for lunch
Head back to POR have your bathing suits in carryon and hit the pool
Your room will probaly be ready by then.

The animals head into barns every morning while they clean the savannah, so morning may not be the ideal time to do that. OTOH, if you're there when they let the animals (sometime between 10:30-11:30, back when I was paying attention), then you see a lot of them streaming out, and probably as active as some of them will get all day. :p So, morning can be either the best or the worst time of the day. :upsidedow
