DVCRentalStore - How long to wait for a match?

No it doesn’t say. I’ll just email them again
I pulled my request (at about 10 months out) and they are refunding the deposit. No one had picked up my request. I rented from someone here on the boards.

So I submitted a request through DVC Rental Store and paid the initial $100 deposit a month ago for a stay next xxxxxx. The request isn’t for a super popular resort but I still haven’t heard anything back. Does anyone know what their timeline is for refunding that payment if they can’t match me with an owner? On the website it doesn’t give a set time before they give up, so to speak. I think if I withdraw the request voluntarily I lose that $. It’s not a lot I know but I’d still like to have it to put towards my vacation. When I emailed a week or so ago, she simply said they’re still working on it. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the question.
First time for me to use the DVC Rental Store and traveling Solo as a senior citizen. After researching 3 different DVC Rental business's, Disney Rental Store is the one I chose since it had good recommendations and was based here in the U.S.A. I appreciate all the comments. I've been feeling anxious and I just put my request in last week. I didn't go with a Confirmed Reservation as the dates didn't work for me and when I put in the dates I wanted in the browsing section there looked to be a lot of studios available and one at The Riviera Resort with a preferred view for a week for a very reasonable price. I was surprised it was even listed since I thought the more popular resorts were usually booked out a year in advance and I'm planning on going in September 2026 when it is my birthday.
I guess I will wait a few weeks as their email said it could take a few days/ weeks before they found a Member who would be able to rent at the specific time I asked for.
I haven't been on the DIS Boards for awhile and started again since I'm planning this trip. My sister & I always seemed to find such valuable information on it. Thanks to you all. 👍

The matches just depend on how many points the owner has to sell and if thats how many points booking your rental will cost.

People will take the $15 dvc rental store offers because of how fast it is. I needed to rent points this month and David was offering $18 and dvc rental store $15 for same resort.

DvC rental store gave me control over renting my reservation. Showed me a list of resorts people wanted to rent and how many points it would be and I would get to select it immediately and payment would be issued 2 days later. David's on the other hand, would just take my information and then email me whenever they found something they thought was a good match. No timeline of when this would be or if this would happen. Guess which one I went with 🤣

I agree $15 is on the low side, but the intention was to swap out to Universal loews sapphire and the swap made sense with how cheap the resort was going for. Didnt end up happening, but the extra money was still used in a productive way (taxes 😝)

I dont do renting myself because I am tired of dealing with people's bs, issues, inconsideration, flakiness, changing their mind, money problems etc. Seriously, id rather get paid less and not have to talk to anyone 🤣🤣

I am greatful for the service and the rapid turn around for owners. I actually prefer davids for renting because I like their customer service better, but I choose the rental store for renting.

I did get an email for a match from David's three and a half weeks later when we had already returned from our trip 🤣 the extra $350 is significant to take pause and wait but it wouldnt have worked for what we were trying to do. Its actually why I prefer David's for renting come to think of it. They have a chat feature and it's faster with them to get the ball rolling for renting in my experience.

I am traumatized by a time when i bought rihanna/eminem concert tickets and bought a couple extra to resell. My friend told me her friend wanted it for her and her boyfriend. I agreed and we agreed upon a day for her to come give me the money. When the day came, I told her not to come that day because I was sick and I would text her for the next week for her to come. No big deal, I was still going to sell her the tickets as promised, but I truly was sick as always lol

I started getting text messages the next day that she had already been on her way to drop off the money before I text her not to come. Because of that, it cost her extra gas money and she had to go to the gas station. At the gas station that she had to go to because of me, a homeless man on a bicyle stole the money.

I got text messages for days about how I owed her the concert tickets because it was my fault her money was stolen , how verbal agreements are legally binding and me telling her to come that day originally was legally binding, demand letters to my house telling me she was suing me for the concert tickets etc. That i had to pay for her gas and emotional distress due to the situation on top of her tickets to the tune of thousands of dollars, complete psycho 😅

It was the craziest thing ever 🤣 phone call after phone call non stop. I told her I was going to the police because she was stalking me, I had no clue what to do. Eventually she stopped after I typed up a cease and desist letter and sent it to her 🤣🤣

I am officially traumatized, broker take my money 🤣🤣

I am with you! If I am ever in need of renting, the broker will be my choice!

Even easier for me will be to use them to trade for a cruise! And yes, I know it’s value is lower but the ease is worth it!

💯 💯 I figure i stand to lose more if something goes sideways. I will be doing cruise swaps in the future too!

Doesnt that come out to around 15 points sometimes too, either way less, hassle is worth $$ for sure!

It can be lower. My current cruise would be about $12/pt value…it’s currently booked with cash but if things change in terms of points needed for 2027, before final payment, I will swap.

It’s still covers the dues and it saves us $4500!

Yep and no questionable tax implications. I say if it covers dues and I get to go somewhere its fair game. Was never trying to make a profit. Strictly bought this to travel 😀

99% of the public is relatively normal. But if you rented to the 1% directly I’m sure you’d regret it! Brokers are a nice insulator for owners from this risk.
