Activating Annual Pass before check-in?

I was told that if I used an AP discount code to reserve our room, then our Annual Pass Certificate must be activated before we can check into our room. Has anyone had any experience with this?

We will only be arriving around 9:00 p.m. and will be expecting groceries to be delivered...does this mean the other members of our party have to wait in the lobby (OKW) while someone rushes to Downtown Disney to activate the Annual Pass?...or do you think they will allow us to check-in with the certificate and then activate the Pass?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Interesting question. Did Disney tell you that? I should think the certificate would be adequate, as it's proof that you paid for the pass. I'd call the resort directly and tell them your situation and see what they say. And make a note of the person's name you spoke to.

They usually never even ask to see my AP...... I would think you would be just fine with the certificate.

In 2005 I checked in at WL. The room was not ready. I showed them the card and letter from the mail. They told me to go to the park to get the AP activated and just come back to the desk to show them. I went to MK. They take your license and some info. The process takes maybe five minutes. When I went back to the hotel later on the front desk was like ok big deal kind of attitude. I thought it was a little odd. Why they can't activate the cards at the hotels is beyond me. They can activate length of stay passes.

I was a wreck like I needed to get back and show them the activated AP. I wouldn'trun right back to the hotel. Show them the info you received in the mail and then drop by at the end of the check-in day at the front desk to show your AP activated card to cover yourself. Your check in time would be hard to run to a park and back. Any manager would understand. Show the material you have and check back the next day with the activated card. I would raise hell if they gave you a problem. They may say that they will revert to the reg. rate until you show the card. I would get it all written out if this occurs. I really doubt they would pull that.
It was really no sweat. I'm a worry-wart. If I can do it, you can too.:surfweb: Dont' forget the Dinsey Dining Experience card. It paid for itself and some for us. We usually do sit down dinner and cover some character buffets.

I always go on an AP disount. The thing about having one is you are in the system as such. One time I went to the CBR, my AP had expired. I did not have any ressies (I came in off the streets, we were in Clearwater and I wanted to do a few days at disney) they gave me the AP rate and I went that afternoon and re-uped my AP. so I see not any problems with having the voucher with you. I wold just check in, and stop by the desk if you want after you acivate it!! just if you feel better showing it to them.....I also felt the need to show it right away, they did not even care nor did they look at it! so I would not worry AT ALL!

We've experienced a little bit of everything. When we've stayed at values and moderates, we've always been asked for our APs. They were already active, so that part wasn't an issue. I've only once been asked for my AP at a deluxe. It had not been activated yet. I was able to check-in with it but was told to be sure to show my activated AP before checking out so I'd be sure to be charged the correct rate.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. It sounds like if we don't even bring up the topic, they may not even ask to see the pass. :rolleyes1

To answer your question, Tikihula, yes 3 different people told us we would need to activate the pass before check-in or the AP discount probably wouldn't be given. One woman at OKW said we should activate it, but if we didn't, we would be taking a chance.

I love this board, it seems the customers know more these days than the employees. Anyone find things have changed in the last five years? I don't recall any problems last time we planned a trip (2002).

Happy planning. :surfweb:

I cannot say yes or no, I just know I have done this also a few times with the MVMMCP tickets. I had no problem.
