activating a cc...

So in the process of activating my credit card, (got a replacement in the mail, last one expired) I have been offered personal account protection and term life insurance. Also asked what I do with my credit card and if I was planning on making a purchase soon!.....I wasnt sure what they were going to offer next..
I was hoping for a free trip to disney world but no go.

Seriously how annoying to have to go thru this much spiel in order to get a card activated. This was HSBC btw. I had just gotten done activating another one (yep they both expire at the same time) and it was all automated, cc number, ss # and good to go.

One of my biggest pet peeves. I just went through this last week...I actually pleaded with the rep, "PLEASE don't sell me anything, just activate my card..." He still continued with the spiels. I didn't yell or anything, but I'm sure he heard the weariness in my voice.

The other card I had to activate - that company got smart. "Please remain on the line until you hear that your card has been activated." Then they proceed with AUTOMATED spiels (that you can't interrupt like you can a human), and you have to press numbers at the end of each one
