Ack!!! The best laid plans (little long)

So, I thought I had it all figured out. DS was not going to our town's public K, because it is only half-day, and after care was crazily expensive for just babysitting. I had worked out a deal with the director of his daycare for him to attend the full day private K, and 3 days of after-care for the same price the Y wanted for after care/babysitting alone!!! Thought I was golden.

I received an email today from the President of the Parental Action Board (pre-school PTA) saying that the director had RESIGNED!!!! (She gave a 2 week notice, but their corporate folks told her, no thank you, here's your 2 weeks pay, bye bye). Now, I have my suspicions as to why she left (she has a new baby and they were pushing her to work 40+/week) but now I am wondering if my 'special price' is going to be honored or not.

It's really only a special price, because she made up this program just for my son, we don't need 5 days of after care, only 3, so she was working with us.

Now, the town K starts in 3 weeks, and he is still registered with them, but I will NEVER be able to find suitable after care for him at this late date, if the price jumps a huge amount.

I'm just so stressed about this, and needed to vent.

You should try to get hold of the new director ASAP, and see if the center will still honor the arrangements you made with the other one.

You won't know until you ask. Maybe they'll be glad to do it for you if you've been a long-time customer.

The new temporary director will be in the Center tomorrow. And the new assistant director will be there the Monday after Labor Day. THe good news is that the new AD is a former teacher of DS's from his first Center, so we have history with her. (Very good History, she is wonderful).

We have been at the Center since the week they opened, so I am hopeful, just so worried.

Oh, I just had another thought. One of the Education Coordinators at the Center was DS's first teacher when he entered the Toddler program. I think I might run it by her tomorrow, and see what she thinks.

I'm just so torn, between wanting to know if they will honor it, and just playing dumb, and writing my checks for the agreed on amount, and seeing what happens.
