Accident on Pirates?

Pretty simple, really. I just don't have kids.



^^This. I go to WDW once a week and I was speaking from prior experience, not necessarily directly related to this case, about how every time I go I see more and more children being allowed to act ridiculously to the point where injury or getting lost might ensue.

We're not talking looking away for two seconds and having the kid do something that gets them almost hurt. We're talking letting very little ones RUN AWAY from their parents, several meters away, mere minutes before a parade is about to start and all streets have already been cleared...or letting kids splash in fountains/use chairs as jungle gyms/otherwise do stupid, dangerous things for many minutes on end as if the parents haven't a care in the world. That is, until poor Jimmy gets hurt and Mommy and Daddy have to sue because their perfect little angel is going to have emotional distress from getting a bruise at Disney World...

This, I am nearly 40, and would have gotten my *** beat for things I see all the time today. People your kid is not cute, your kid is in fact obnoxious. I also typically think when people make a all you perfect people comment they are ones of the ones who is letting said behavior go on, at least from what I have seen on the net. My best example of this was the kid I accidentally clothesline while getting on haunted mansion, instead of correcting the behavior dad wanted to fight me, a lot shoving was going on and I grabbed a rail. oops

Lets hope it isn't his finger he used on the turn styles to enter the park, if so he might not get back in.

Or her could take his finger in a plastic bag... "...Honestly this is MY magic band and finger..."

I'm glad to see the reports that this man is taking responsibility for his own actions. I have huge respect for that and in our current times of self entitlement, it's quite refereshing to see.

We all have moments of lapse of judgement (some way more than others, but still) and unforatuntely some of those bad decisions have really bad consequences. Based on him coming out right away and stating it was his own fault leads me to believe this is an otherwise sensible person who likely mostly has good judgement and had a temporary lapse into moronhood. Hard lesson learned for this guy for sure.

This reminds of the time we encountered a large group of rude, poorly behaved people at WDW who were wearing shirts labeled in very large letters 'English at Disney'. I kept thinking that it was atypical behavior for the British people we had encountered until my husband pointed out the shirts meant this group was learning to speak English, not that they were British. Did I ever feel dumb.

You are not very likely to meet anyone who declares themselves as 'English'. People proudly declare that they are Scottish or Welsh, but for some reason the English are not allowed to call themselves that. We have to call ourselves 'British' otherwise we are deemed racist! Yeah, work that one out! The only time you see England emblazoned is during football or rugby world cups, when the four member countries of GB compete as separate countries.

How many times have you done something stupid, gotten distracted for a moment, been careless, and had nothing come of it? Probably more times than any of us realize.

There was nothing malicious about his actions-- it sounds like an accident.

How incredibly awful that a moment's distraction led to an accident that will effect the rest of his life.

Several outlets are reporting an accident on Pirates involving a child. If reports are correct, the child may have placed his/her hands in the water and lost a finger at the bottom of a down ramp.

I saw this online on msnnews headlines: A man from the UK got the tip of his pinky and ring finger, one hand, cut off. He must have put in outside the boat. They stopped the ride for a while, I guess. We must listen when the cm's tell us to keep our hands, fingers,legs, etc in the boat at all times!

it was right at the end of the cue just before the buggies where it gets narrow, i reached for the railing because people were shoving, worse than normal, and one of those pushing was likely a kid, as i reached over grab the railing for balance, and the fact even as a large guy I felt I was about to knocked over, that's how bad it was that day, he hit my arm just right, and gravity did the rest.

'He was very calm and just said he needed band aid for his fingers. He did not want a fuss made and kept repeating he had his hand where it should not have been.'

'The man lost the tip of his ring finger down to the bottom of the nail, while the little finger was about down to the first knuckle. From the medical reports they were sliced clean off.'

So...he had the actual first BITS of those fingers SLICED OFF, and then CALMLY asked for band-aids?!

Also, to those snarkily commenting on the snarky comments: Last time I checked, this was a DISCUSSION FORUM. Not a 'you can only say nice things about confirmed stories' forum. Obviously there's a line between sarcastically jesting and outright slamming the guy/people in general, and I personally don't think it's been crossed. Just in case I need to make up for my ills, though...
