Several outlets are reporting an accident on Pirates involving a child. If reports are correct, the child may have placed his/her hands in the water and lost a finger at the bottom of a down ramp.

Poor kid, hope hes ok. Thats why CM's make adults sit on the edges

Where did you read this? I tried googling and got nothing.

Nothing on Google News nor on the Orlando Sentinel site, either of which would be all over a story like this. Sounds like a bogus forwarded email or "saw it on Facebook".

Nothing to see here, move along.

MDE app has POTC listed as closed, TouringPlans app has it listed as closed since 12:45. Poor kid!

Touring Plans shows PoC reported closed at 12:45, I wouldn't just dismiss it. Disney tends to try to keep things quiet.

Really? Just rude. Come on.

I know we don't know what happened but....WHO lets their child lean over far enough to get their hand in the water????

Seems a little harsh:scared:

I hope the child is ok. Very sad.

When I was in 1st grade, a girl cut the tip of her pinky off in the back door of the classroom. All the rooms had heavy metal doors that opened up to the outside of the school for some reason. The screaming that ensued was horrifying. I can't even imagine being on the ride when this happened. Or being the parent. What do you do? Frantically try to see if there is anywhere you can jump out at an emergency exit?

Seriously. And who wants to bet that the parents will sue?

I don't know if schools fall under this category, but public buildings are required to open outwards to avoid a crush of people pressing up against the doors during an emergency.
