accepting credit cards

i found a company called square.
it allows u to take credit cards over ur cell phone.
its compatible with iphone ad andriod. they send you a card reader. looks like a little square that hangs out of your earphone jack.
no monthly costs. and visa, mastercard. american express and discover are accepted.
the cost is 2.75 % plus 15 cents for swiped transactions .. or 3.5 % plus 15 cents for keyed transactions..

has anyone used this?

You might try reading the reviews on any of the app stores for the various phones.

I saw a video of that when it was first released last year and it looked like a really great idea. I don't have any use for it, so I never looked into it further.

There are other ways to accept credit cards on your phone as well, I have seen other apps for that on the iTunes store and I don't believe they involved any hardware.

this was on one of the morning shows just last week. I forgot who the inventor was, some rich young Tech Guy!
Would people use this at Tag sales? Garage Sales for large items, maybe something to consider

I just forwarded this to my fellow board members on my non-profit board. We are looking for an easy way to accept credit cards. I'm really not sure how the fees stack up on this compared to a standard credit card processing account. If we decide to try this, I'll update.

i do have a small business.. i am a bail bonds agent. people always wanna pay with the credit card..
my current method.. is with a bank. i have to call it in. they charge us a percentage and also a 20 dollar a month fee for having an account. reguardless if i use it or not.

i theorize that even if the percentage is a little bit more. i will still save over the year

I actually have this and I love it. I do alot of craft shows and this has actually increased my business. Easy to use. Quick transfer of money into your account. Just over all a great item.
