Acapulco Information

Hi Roberto,
I've read through this thread and also your thread on the other board. Thank you again for providing us with all this information!

I have a question concerning the shotover jet boats. I've read that the lagoon has a rather unpleasant smell. We were a little concerned about how our 7 year old DD would take to the thrill ride aspect of these boats. When you couple that with the odor, we may reconsider doing this.

Can you please comment on the smell? Would the odor be different at different times of the year? (We will be on the August cruise.) Also, since we will be getting wet on this excursion, do the passengers end up smelling like the lagoon?

Paul

Hi Paul,

It was a real fun experience, the smell is really bad at noon time it smells like raw sewage, I have a terribly weak stomach and the odor almost made me thow up. Well into the ride you it's not that bad, you get used to it. A small child on the other hand, well, I haven't heard of any one not taking the ride on account to the bad smell.

I remember we didn't stink up my car with my GF, but take a change of clothes just for comfort sake.

I would recommend the Ocean Riders, 1 block away and just as exciting, this activity is done in the ocean, check out there web page.

www.oceanriders.com.mx

You gotta try the suicide seat, right up front. I didn't let any one change seats with me when I did it a couple of times.

Thanks for chatting yesterday, it was very informative!

If you were to do a tour of the area, what key sites would be included in the tour?

I understand the bus tours are not always the best way to see beautiful Acapulco but seeking a good line up of site seeing!

Thanks in advance!

Here go the interesting places for sightseeing in Acapulco;

The chapel of las brisas, the mirador of Puerto Marques (look out point), the home of Dolores Olmedo (Diego Rivera mural), Cliff Divers, the fort of San Diego and it's bridge, Caleta & Caletilla beaches, Princess hotel, Mayan Palace resort, Cliff Divers, Sinfonia del mar, Flamingos hotel, the botanical gardens of Loyola, bungy jump of the Condesa beach, just to name of the most representative places in Acapulco.

Thanks guys I feel like noe of the crew, :earboy2: the ship will be alone at berth and on it's Port Side alongside the pier, I'll be on the tip of the pier waving it in assisting the pilot.

I will have an official Port Authority polo shirt for the first person that shakes my hand on the pier.

Let's make this interesting I will not be at the gangway, but sitting at the custom's desk inside the cruise terminal... a good 200 yards away from the gangway; see who has the best condition, I will have an XL shirt.

OH NO!

Now in addition to the great hammock race on Castaway Cay we will also have the great Acapulco polo shirt race.

Watch out Roberto!

Go Peter!
:cheer2:

Thanks so much for all the great info Roberto!
I've seen your thread on the CC boards. Glad you found your way to the Dis!

My pleasure this time of year it's gettting pretty slow, so I have much more time to answer questions.

The "Great Acapulco Polo Shirt Race" I like the name, the only rule is that it has to be a registered DB runner (adults), sorry don't send your kids, that would only kill the fun. I'll wave the shirt from the pier when the ship comes alongside. I can just imagine you guys trying to get passed security on board before the ship is cleared... Well good luck to all, let the race begin.

Roberto,

Looks like a great opportunity to sell a few of the Port Authority Polo Shirts that day. I know my wife and I would do so. We take an XL and a XXL.

Think we can rent one on board to be the first one there.

Sorry their not for sale, the only way to get one is winning the race.

I'll see if my boss agrees to sell them, another way to get one is to take them off our stevedores or open my desk.

Another DIS scavenger hunt to find Roberto's Desk LOL

Roberto --

I've been trying to set up excursions for our Repo Cruise in August (BTW -- can we also try to get a polo shirt :rotfl2: ) through Shoretrips.com - We are planning to get a group together of 50 or more to see the night diving show at 10:30 PM. We feel it's a better idea to have reservations with a group our size. I've only gotten 1 rate from Marissa at the company.

Do you have any recommendations of who else to contact to set this up?

The Geat Acapulco Polo Shirt Race..

Sounds like a challenge, ok, I was going to wait for you at the Custioms Desk, but a few yards cuts all of the fun out of the game. You guys gave me a great idea, I will be sitting @ my desk waiting for somebody to claim their prize. Now this is much trickier (don't know if the word exists) because you have to go out to the street to get to my office....I will how ever give you a clue; my office is in front of of Banamex Bank, I am on the first floor, you will have to ask permition to reception to gain access to where I am sitting. (no worries I 'll leave instructions at reception to let you in inmediately)

The name of my company is :

Administración Portuaria Integral Acapulco, SA de CV

If you are smart you can find a map somewhere on the Internet, specifically of the entire port, its a sketch of the facilities. :teacher:

Good luck to all and let the game begin........Ready......on your mark......get set.....and.............GO!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

See you at the finish line.

Another clue; Port Security is a key issue, our security staff knows all of the facility, although most don't speak English. :confused3

The pier will be delimited by line dividers that you can not cross, so you can't take a short cut to my office. You must go to the main exit, out on the street, turn left and run; when you reach my office ask for me and I will be waiting sitting at my desk. Remember I am on the first floor, hehehehe, can't wait. :hourglass

I just arranged a contact, the manager and dolphins manager at the CICI water park, I am awaiting information on how to reserve for the swim with the dolphins, directly with them, I'll post it ASAP.

Information soon to follow, note, in order to receive these benefits please do not tell the Ship Excursions staff, or no more direct contact.

Good news for all coming to Acapulco in August, I just received clearance a few minutes ago, to proceed with the welcome festivities in August for the arrival of the Disney Magic to Acapulco. Yahooooo

So we will have 2 festivities, one for the inaugural call in May and a second one in August.

This is highly unusual and I really did not expect to convience my principals to fork out a few thousand $$.

See ya soon :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks for arranging something for August. It will be fantastic to have such a great greeting.

That is wonderful! We are looking forwarding to visiting your city this coming August!
