Good news for all coming to Acapulco in August, I just received clearance a few minutes ago, to proceed with the welcome festivities in August for the arrival of the Disney Magic to Acapulco. Yahooooo

So we will have 2 festivities, one for the inaugural call in May and a second one in August.

This is highly unusual and I really did not expect to convience my principals to fork out a few thousand $$.

See ya soon :cheer2: :cheer2:

That is so great. Thank you so much for talking them into doing this for us.

I think I'd rather take the shirts off the stevedores.

That will be a sight to see since most of the stevedores are "over the hill" but not under it.

The race is growing momentum and I'm thinking of making a second place gift, but no idea what to give out, since we have nothing else but the polo shirts. Hey maybe you can take home an authentic "port authority cat", we have at least 30 running around. :teeth: :teeth:

I posted this on another thread too but thought you would be the one to ask. Is it best if we bring small denomination bills in US$ for our stops in mexico or would pesos be preferred. I am not sure how hard it is to figure out pesos to US$ but I would like to do some shopping in small stores and didnt want to look like a fool for not being able to figure it out. Also do the taxis, attractions and shops usually take both forms of money?

Thanks for all your wonderful help

Inside the cruise terminal and many authorized taxi drivers will take USD and return USD for change. In most tourist related stores, or major supermarkets they will also take your USD as well as Pesos, watch out here; you will pay in USD and will receive Pesos as change. Always ask the exchange rate before paying, some times, shops will take advantage and give you a terrible exchange rate.

Small currency is good to have for tipping or paying for souvenires in small stores. The exchange rate fluctuates on a daily basis, although the average is $10.50 Pesos per 1USD.

If you can pay with a credit card for a larger purchase, do so, this way you get the bank rate that is always much better than in a money exchange house.

I just got an email from Roberto explaining exactly how to get to him.

You must leave the cruise terminal on the east entrance, where the police station is located, you will encounter stanchion barriers and steel barriers, he must pass these obstacles (withy out breaking the law) to get fastest to the street, on the street he must go towards the bridge and once he passes gets to the end of the barbed wired fence, he must turn a left and the office is on the first floor.

You can go ahead and post it to give others a fair chance, you can find the map of the facilities on my company’s web page, on the Spanish version, in contacts, there’s a map of the facilities.

For the cliff divers the shows are at 01:00pm then until 07:30, 08:30, 9:30 and 10:30 pm, you have 3 options:

1.-For $3.00 you can walk about 60 steps to the mirador area (up close) but it’s usually crowded and no guarantees of being up front to enjoy the show, wit one drink included.

2.- For $12.50 (afternoon) $16.50(evening) you can have 2 domestic drinks at La Perla Restaurant, you will be in the main terrace table seated and have a great view of the dive.

3.- For $35.00 you can have dinner at La Perla restaurant you will be seated in the lower section of the terrace, a closer view, reservations are required. (let me know if I can assist)

A cab will charge you $8.00 (1 to 4 persons) to $12.00 (5 to 8 persons) each way depending on the number of persons in you group if your interested in seeing the evening show and not be part of an hourly rate arrangement.

I have a question... in #1 above, is it 60 "steps" as in walking a straight line... or "steps" as in stairs to go up and down?

This will make a difference in my decision

Just bumping to see if anyone has an answer. Or if you know if DCL's excursion that does not have lunch has the 60 steps if it is stairs

We Will Be lke Amber and Rob....

The general public can see the ship from La Reina Park right across from the pier, only a few lucky VIP will get to go on board. I just received my invitation a few days ago, so i have my hands full that day.

The race, the welcome festivities, fire works, plaque exchange ceremony, etc.

I will probably have an assistant at my desk ready to hand out the shirt to the winner, cause I'll be really busy that morning.
