Acapulco Information

At this point, I don't have any questions but I would like to thank you for all your time and energy to help all of us. I read some bits and pieces that you posted on the cruise critic board and was delighted that you found your way over here. Hope to see you in Acapulco!

It's my pleasure, I came here about 21 years ago and never left. I have met so many intersting people on cruise ships, this is a way to cope with stres; I have a very stressful job, helping others enjoy their stay and get the chance just to say hi makes this all worth while.

Hope to meet you in the near future.

I am on the pier, when the ship pulls in I help the pilot; also I take care of all operations in the cruise terminal, tour operators, taxi drivers, security and a long list of other things I am responsible for.

Thanks for your reply. I looked online to see pix of the Hyatt and it looks nice but on TripAdvisor it was given really bad reviews. Is there another choice for a beach for the day? Also Disney is offering a trip to Coco Loco Beach Club-- for $50 a person-- Do you know anything about that place? Can people go there on their own? Thanks for your help!

The CICI waterpark is a great place to go for families with children, it has a big wave pool, slides, water guns, and a dolpin show. It costs $7 USD per person, they also rent lockers to leave your valuables while swimming. Since it's beach side property you can go to the sea for banana boat rides, jet skis, etc. It's located 15 minutes away from the cruise terminal.

Thank you very much for your reply. DCL is offering this excursion (it includes lunch) for $45 per person, which I think is expensive. Do you think it is doable for us to get a taxi from the Port to the waterpark or do you recommend us doing the Disney excursion?

Thanks for all your help with this.

The Coco Loco tour is done at the Princess Hotel and the Mayan Palace Resort, both very nice hotels, the only problem is that only booking via the ship is the only way to get in; I know for a fact that the Princess hotel has many conventions and if they are full you be turned away (they do allow day use privilages for a fee about $20 to 25 Per person, added to the fact that a cab ride will cost $35 Usd each way for either hotel). The Mayan Palace is a time share resort and only allow day use privilages for potential customers.

I have recommended many people to go to the Hyatt and no problems yet, another option is to go to the CICI waterpark for a fun day.

First of all......... thank you very much for supplying all of this terrific information and answering questions, of which I have a couple.....

Are there any duty free shops in the cruise terminal (or nearby)? If so, what items are available to purchase?

We will be there during the August cruise back to Florida. What kind of weather is typical for late August?

Thanks,
Ed

Do you get to swim with thte dolphins? if not, it's way to expensive, you can get there on your own a cab should charge about $12 USD each way and entrance fee is $7USD per person, lunch could be as cheap as Mcdonalds.

Nope, that is just for the waterpark, transportation and lunch. The Dolphin Swim is $199 per person. The Dolphin Encounter is $149 per person. I thought it would be cheaper doing it on our own, and you just confirmed it.

Thank you very much for all the valuable information you're giving us.

Unfortunately we do not have a duty free store inside the cruise terrminal, although there are many stores inside the cruise terminal. The only duty free shops are at the airport and prices are only 15% off regular prices.

There is a goverment subsidized store called 100% Mexico wich offers a wide variety of hand crafts at superb quality and reasonable prices, the rest are jewelry stores, souveniers and t-shirts...There is a Del Sol store inside the terminal.

August is our rain season, but I will try to import sun from Japan to insure a warm sunny day. Normally it hot and humid, say lower 90°s and 60 to 75% humidity.

Roberto, you have no idea how much we all appreciate your posting here! You also will be amazed at the number of questions we have, most of us are compulsive planners, and get into the details.

Wecome to the DIS!

Certainly my pleasure, and thanks to all, I felt much more welcome on this board than on other boards where I've had my thread erased for being "to helpful" I just hope I can keep up with the replies, as soon as the ship comes in, I'll post a few activities that we have planned for the arrival of the DM in May, it's gonna be a big event.

My husband was wondering about rafting in Acapulco. Do you recommend it and can you recommend a company? I have heard that it is class 1 to class 2+ waters. True?

Thanks!
