Acapulco Information

My company, through me, is arranging the following activities:

A tug boat welcoming you in with it's fire hoses blasting, I will have a military vessel escort the ship from 12 miles out from the bay. Folkloric dancers on the pier, greeting and saying hi; great oportunity to take pictures, 2 clowns giving out balloons and a few guys on stilts and in the evening before sailing 15 blasts of fireworks.

Thisis what we want to do, but I need to meet up with municpal authorities to see if they want to pitch in the festivities.

Hopefully I will earn/get my golden ears.....

Hi Roberto,

We will also be on the May cruise. Do you have an idea when you might have more information on the Magic's arrival into the port ? Also, I am a HUGE baker and would like to pick up Vanilla extract and Vanilla beans, can you tell me some places to check for the vanilla ?

Thanks for your assistance for our cruise

Bye, Kim

At this point just what I posted, I will have a meeting 1 week before arrival to Port.....let it be a surprise. If I know something else I'll post it ASAP;)

There are many stores that sell Vanilla extract, but no idea where to find the beans. The best place is a few meters away in a liquor store called La Divina, right across from the cruise terminal where the bridge to the fort is located. This would the cheapest, closest and many brands to choose from.

Dear Roberto, please don't forget about the Magic coming back in August! There are over 500 DISers on the ship, and we will all want to meet you.

I had wanted to book an excersion with the cliff divers through Disney but it is booked. What do you think the probability is of getting a good seat just by taking a cab and waiting in line?
Thanks!

My company is paying for the inaugural call celebration in May; hopefully I can twist some arms to arrange a really cool reception for you guys as well..

I can be located on the pier when the ship pulls in, I'm the only guy with a radio, Goattie and sunglasses. I posted a ton of my pictures on my pic page.

Since you're overnighting, we can party all night long.......I am known on another board as a party animal; we can do a bar hopping tour on our own.

Don't worry the place has a huge capacity, the whole ship could be accomodated in 2 seatings. I don't foreee problems to see the divers, although get there a 20 to 30 minutes earlier to avoid lines.

Thanks I'm honored...you'll all be my VIP guests while in Acapulco, I know many places where I am close to an Aztec Idol, can't wait to start wreaking havoc with the rest of the "fools". Have them drop by any time if they need help organizing a day.

Note, I'm not a TA or looking to make any $$ out of this, just to have fun.

Hi Roberto!

I'm a little late in jumping into this thread! We'll be on the May Disney Magic criuise too and want to also say a BIG thank you to you for all you've shared with us!

I can envision all of us hanging over the side looking for you on May 23rd!

:jumping1: "Look, There's Roberto! :jumping1:

I will make sure you get your Golden Mickey Ears! Personalized too! :goodvibes

Georgie + Joe :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Is the an internet link for this place? Also- if the Disney cruise leaves port by 730 pm, then the 1pm show is the only option. When you are talking about hourly arrangement for the cab- is that when you hire a cab to take you site seeing?
Thanks!

Thanks guys I feel like noe of the crew, :earboy2: the ship will be alone at berth and on it's Port Side alongside the pier, I'll be on the tip of the pier waving it in assisting the pilot.

I will have an official Port Authority polo shirt for the first person that shakes my hand on the pier.

Let mw know if you need any insier info.

Hi Roberto,
I've read through this thread and also your thread on the other board. Thank you again for providing us with all this information!

I have a question concerning the shotover jet boats. I've read that the lagoon has a rather unpleasant smell. We were a little concerned about how our 7 year old DD would take to the thrill ride aspect of these boats. When you couple that with the odor, we may reconsider doing this.

Can you please comment on the smell? Would the odor be different at different times of the year? (We will be on the August cruise.) Also, since we will be getting wet on this excursion, do the passengers end up smelling like the lagoon?

Paul

Sorry, it didn't show the original message...
My question was regarding the cliff divers....
If the ship leaves by 730 pm then I would have to see the 1 pm show...correct?

Thanks for chatting yesterday, it was very informative!

If you were to do a tour of the area, what key sites would be included in the tour?

I understand the bus tours are not always the best way to see beautiful Acapulco but seeking a good line up of site seeing!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks!

The only link I know of, restaurant La Perla for the divers:

http://www.hotelelmiradoracapulco.com.mx/restaurant-ing.html

For site seeing there are authorized transport services that will charge you am hourly rate per van or car.

The one pm show is the only one in the afternoon.
