Absolutely unacceptable

18 pages, guys...

Yeah, but those 17 pages were worth trudging through to get to my brilliant post above you. No sacrifice, no victory.

I, for one, am more concerned about how the Belgian takeover will affect Anheiser-Bush supplying to the parks. I heard something about retrofitting their arsenal to equip Shamu... not to mention the dolphin forces training covertly and the safari animals rallying.

* sorry wadecool.... didn't see yours before I posted!!! :)

It's all good. :goodvibes You do make a good point about the Belgian takeover of Anheuser-Busch possibly affecting the beer supply, I hadn't considered that. That combined with the WMD's could turn out to be a real problem... :3dglasses

Dolphins have long been a thorn in the geopolitical landscape of theme parks. Many people consider them to be benevolent guardians of Earth and space, but I know the truth. They're like Godzilla; they only help humans so that they may one day destroy us. The tank variety are no different from their wild brethren, except they have more reason to hate us, having been forced to perform in what the ocean-dwellers call "The Guantanomo Bay of nature." We must rally the rest of the cetaceans to our cause, lest the dolphins unite them against us.

Don't let the perma-smile of the bottle nose dolphin fool you. Deep down, they want to bathe in your blood.

Maybe the reason for SeaWorld stockpiling WMD's is to quell any possible dolphin uprising...

Now THIS made reading this thread worth it.

Maybe I'm too laid back, but as far as the OP goes, plan to work around it. You still have use of the monorail, just not necessarily in both directions. Not a big deal.

Oh dear God...the two of you. Too funny!!!

In any case, if this thread were over on the Transportation Board, no one would have been able to see those above posts. I would have shut this thread down awhile ago. Nothing new is being said, people are now just jawing at each other. But...then again, we would have missed the 'dolphins bathing in our blood' comment!!!

I'm sorry but mid-March is far from 'peak' season. This time of year always see's shutdowns and rehabs....all through the various parks and resorts. Peak season is going to be over holidays, school vacations, etc. .

Next week is school vacation. The prices are listed as peak for this time frame, the only other category which is more is holiday .... TP has the park days listed at 9s and 10s.... that is peak my friend.....

Not sure if anyone posted this yet.

To accommodate planned maintenance and nearby construction, we will be temporarily adjusting the operating schedule for the monorail system. Beginning March 2, monorail service on the Magic Kingdom Resort and Express beams will be temporarily suspended during non-peak times, between 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

During this time, watercraft (where applicable) and additional buses will be available to transport Guests to their destinations.
Weather permitting, we expect this work to be complete before the end of the month.
A flyer will be distributed to Guests staying in the affected resorts. The verbiage of that flyer is below.
Walt Disney World ® Resort Guest,

We are delighted you have selected the Walt Disney World ® Resort as your vacation destination!

During this time, buses and watercraft (where applicable) will be available to transport you to destinations throughout the Walt Disney World ®. If traveling to Epcot®, bus transportation will be provided to the Transportation & Ticket Center, where you may transfer to the Epcot Monorail. Weather permitting, we expect this work to be complete before the end of March.

Please contact the Front Desk with any questions or concerns. We hope your stay with us is truly magical.
Sincerely,
The Cast of the Walt Disney World ® Resort

Personally, I think a major factor in staying at a Monorail resort is the Monorail. If I were in your situation I would asked to be moved to the Beach or Yacht Club..

I tried doing this myself for our upcoming trip... they are FULL!!!

In 10 days we leave to go on a WDW spring break trip. Up until Friday night we had a reservation at the Contempory Resort. We have two boys age 8 and 5 and they (me too) LOVE the monorail. We ride the monorail for fun (during the day), for transportation (to and from everything) and just for fun (did I mention that already?) We also go back to the room for naps, and hop between MK, Epcot and the MK Resorts. This was going to be a light park heavy resort vacation so I thought it would be fun to stay at the "Monorail hotel".

I know there are rumors that the 'work' will be over by the 17th, but no one can seem to confirm this and I knew that we would just feel like our 'monorail vacation' wouldn't be as fun without the monorail available to us when we wanted it. Did I also mention that we eat early? Like before 6pm.

So I called and changed our reservations for a different hotel on property. Port Orleans Riverside. And I also wrote an email to Disney.

I didn't do any of this to spite anyone, or as a rash emotional decision. I did it because it serves what we want out of our vacation (and pocketbook) best. I emailed Disney not because I thought they could do anything about it, but because I know they track this sort of stuff and I wanted my 'vote' to be heard. Maybe next time they'll come up with a different solution based on customer feed back.

When I emailed WDW on Friday I got an automatic response back with a phone number to call. I called them on Monday and they told me that they understood that they understood what a big deal it was and that they had no other recourse and it wasn't a decision made lightly. I thanked her and hung up. I didn't ask for anything, nor did she offer.

Couple of very serious and genuine questions: First, what was it about the boats between the MK and the Poly that made them not nearly as convenient as the monorail? And second, of the 60%-70% of the time you spent going to the Magic Kingdom, how much of that was spent in transit?

#1 - personal preference

#2 = no idea, what's your point?

Wow. Browbeat? And only when we're talking about my statements is it necessary to italicize the word opinion? Why do you find it necessary to imply my opinion is something other than that?

Yes. Browbeat. It's a really real word, not hyphenated or made up or anything. Look it up.

I'm not sure we're reading the same thread. The posters who are advising guests demand compensation are doing exactly that.

As well they should, there is nothing at all wrong with expecting to get what you pay for.

More exactly, it would be a combination of the proximity to the Magic Kingdom combined with multiple modes of transportation on a daily basis.Really? There's not a better term?

Which would include *drumroll*...... direct monorail transportation.

Yep. There's another DISer whose vacation is affected, and who wrote to Disney about her displeasure, and who changed almost every aspect of her vacation, and now intends to go and have a blast. My opinion doesn't pay for her vacation, either. She was concerned, even disappointed at first. But she's not claiming this is "absolutely unacceptable", either. Lemonade out of lemons...

Again, your point?

Okay, I can't take it any more. It's one word, not hyphenated, and it's spelled supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Oh that's just hysterical.

THAT's ME

Because of Walt's philosophy that his theme parks will never be finished there is always some sort of construction being done somewhere on the property. It just so happens that right now they are working on the new DVC resort by the Grand Floridian, which impacts how the monorails run.

Every trip is presented with it's own unique challenges, and it is up to the individual to make the best of it. It really is possible! Trust me!

No it doesn't. We're on a disney board, most of us already realize that it's not the Iran/Israel conflict. I already realize that it does nothing to solve the gas crisis.

I too dislike being reminded of "how lucky I am to be able to set foot on disney property". For me the inference is since I'm sooo lucky to be here I should accept any type of service totally ignoring the fact that I PAID money for that so called "luck". Luck has absolutely nothing to do with my ability to go to disney.

as I say many times if you don't go with the acceptable party line of "Every thing disney does is superb" you all of a sudden need a readjustment on your "perspective".

Supposedly everyone realizes that this not the Iran/Isreal conflict....yet the amount of discourse, personal attacks, angry responses, just continues to steamroll.

Now we have a growing number of people playing the victim card because they feel everyone is attacking them or trying to force them to believe that "everything disney does is superb".

Can you imagine the tone of the conversation if we were talking about something that actually important?

I have to be honest, I'm surprised this thread is still open. Without a doubt this has degenerated to become one most combative, unproductive, and embarassing threads that I have ever followed on the Disboards. It's a train wreck just crying for a Mod to put it out if it's misery.

To the OP...I hope you find a way to enjoy your vacation.

You Aldo forget how well they work in groups. Their ability to problem solve and learn is simply amazing. I mean, look at how well they've conditioned the trsiners at Sea world to throw fish for a simple flip.... and convince the poor humans it's the other way around! :worship:

I used to post here(forgot my old user name and password) and trust me this is not a bad thread. You should have been here when it was ok to discuss politics.
Good times:rotfl:

I don't know about most combative, but it's certainly one of the most hyperbolic.

Ya know what? These boards are here because people DO find everything about their WDW vacation important to them. If you feel nothing about Disney is earth shattering enough to talk about, why the frig are you here?

I could go to every single one of the, what, 6,000,000 posts on this board and reply with, "If that's the most important thing in your life you have to worry about, then blah, blah, blah...." So what?

Look, to the OP the monorail is a significant part of her vacation experience, and is obviously an important factor in choosing her resort. Why can't people look at her post and say, "Ya know what, the monorail isn't important to me and I love staying at the Poly so much it's really a non-factor", or, "Ya know what, I agree totally and I'm going to switch resorts."

Why do a large number of people have the opinion that something is "wrong" with her for what she FEELS? And instead of just calling her wrong, we have to insult her and question her decision making skills and sanity for holding HER OWN opinion, which is hurting no one, by the way.

Geez, get a grip people. If all you want to talk about is earth shattering topics, you're on the wrong board. If all you can do is insult and act like you, and only you, are the oracle from above, well, I'm not sure there is a message board for you.
