My 2 cents: If you can afford it and DH doesn't care for any drama, stop thinking about the dress and buy it for the sake of family harmony. It will be a terrific Halloween princess costume, or you can sell it yourself on e-bay.

I know she's a basket of emotions-her sisters (her bridesmaids) are the REAL trouble-they won't try on dresses, they don't like the dresses she's picked out, etc. So I've been an easy target.

This sure sounds like the real problem. Brides sure do often go through a stressful time.

Not sure if you WANT to, but is there any way you could try to get closer to her and try to help her relieve some of her OTHER stress? You'd be an angel if you could help her feel good again. Hard to walk on eggshells, I know....
