What did you pay for either an in ground or an above ground pool? We are in MA and are looking at pools and want to get a ballpark figure for a new pool.

At our old house, we had an above ground pool kit purchased at Sam's for about $1,500 that we almost lost our religion over installing ourselves....:sad2: at this house, we paid contractors to install our inground pool for $16,500 for a 16x32 with diving board, steps, ladder, and concrete decking. We spent another $8,000 on landscaping and dirt work and extra concrete. We LOVE it. Worth EVERY penny.:upsidedow

We paid about $5,000 for an 21 ft. above ground pool with installation. The deck was almost twice that much!

We would have loved an inground pool but with the pool, concrete and a good fence we were looking at $45,000. Ouch!

We live in NE also and there's a lot of rock in the ground. Keep in mind, blasting may have to be done.

We just put an inground pool in in August. We have a 18x36 Emerald Shape (also known as Grecian shape) with an 8'8" deep end, diving board, steps, ladder, polaris 360 and 5' on each side and 8' on each end of concrete ...price $22,500 we added additional 5 ft x 52 ft of concrete on one side and that was $910 then we did a 2level deck and wooden privacy fence and will finish landscaping this spring. I can't wait to get to use it more next summer:thumbsup2

We put in an above ground pool a year and half ago. It's 15' in diameter, 4' deep. We originally had a fence around the top, then this summer put a small fantail deck on.

The pool itself cost about $3,000. The deck was probably another $2000 or so.

You CAN get much cheaper pools, but you have to be aware of the construction. If it's made wrong, the parts tend to rust over time.

We went through Brothers 3 on Long Island. I bet they would be able to recommend someone in your neighborhood.

Bulit an in ground pool five years ago. 20x40 concrete pool. With fence, heater, etc. it was around $40,000

Inground pool + spa-- including rock waterfall, built in benches in pool, paver patio and landscaping was about $70,000.

IMHO it's not worth it unless you live in a warm weather area and can get lots of use from it.

We put in an inground pool, salt water chlorinator, diving board, extra concrete, Polaris, and extra electrical work done for $35,000.

just finished with in-ground with spa, booster heater, polaris, benches, pebble-tech interior, led colored lights, indoor controls, extra decking, built-in grill/fridge island on deck for $50,000. We are in Texas, so there will be LOTS of use (it is 80 degrees today!)

We're in MA also and put in an above ground this past year. We couldn't think of putting in an in-ground with such a short season and the fact that you have to pay taxes on an in-ground. We got a 27' round johnny weismuller pool at Namco for about $2800 and the installation was another $1000. It's a pretty goor brand as far as above ground pools go. We will extend our main deck to it this year but do that ourselves with "trex" type decking - probably another $2000-3000 but it will be pretty large.

We're in MA also and put in an inground pool about a year ago. It was about $50, 000 for a 17X34 Mountain pond pool with lots of decking and nice fencing. We got a heater and were able to use the pool from May 1st through the end of September this year. We love it!

many realtors have said (I also heard it on HGTV) that for northern climates, in ground pool returns ZERO on resale and can hurt, b/c a lot of families don't want the upkeep and dangers of a pool if they can't use it a lot of months. Even in our area (DC) pools are a negative.
So, maybe a cheaper above-ground that you can get rid of if you ever sell your house.

We put an above ground pool in this August! Ours is 24 inch round, installed with all the starter kits, pool supplies and tools and paid approx $3800. We also had a spa installed from the same company and that was much more, about $7600, but so worth it!! We use it every night! I can't wait to open the pool in the Spring, I don't feel like we got to use it much before we had to close it! LOL

My husband built a deck around our pool and that cost us double what the pool cost! Decks are way more expensive, but worth every penny! :)

Same here. We originally wanted the inground, but there was no way we could spend that much. So, we got an above ground and my BIL built a large deck around 1/3 of it. All in all, we spent about $4000.00 on the whole thing, and it's paid for itself in terms of the kids having a blast while the adults can relax on the deck with a glass of wine ;) .

We are in Ma. We currently have an above ground pool-it came with the house when we bought it 12 years ago and was 10 years old then. It is showing a lot of wear and tear-needs to be replaced within 2-3 years.

So we starting to think to get an in-ground pool instead. Quotes started at $25k. Sorry no way... if we do replace it will another above ground pool.
