Im wanting to buy a pool for our home and want to keep it as inexpensive as possible. We are going to have to have it installed because there is a lot of dirt to move so we shopped around at local pool stores and got prices. One of my questions is 1 of of the stores took 10% off saying since it was late in the year. We like this place and pool the best and Im wandering if I can offer them less if I offer cash. Im thinking about another 8% off since its cash.

Anyone have experience with this or think its reasonable for this time of year?
Should I physically take the cash if this is what Im going to do?

We bought our pool late in the summer, like Aug. I think we got 33% off and we did pay cash. One tip, don't get a sand filter. Get an "earth" filter. I'd love to spell the kind of earth it is but haven't a clue, something like diatamacious. If you tell the guys at the store you want an earth filter, they'll know what you mean. IMO it cleans the water better., traps the dirt and algae better than sand. We have had the same filter for over 25 years (2 different pools but used the same filter for the second one). We love our pool and have had years of enjoyment from it. Good luck.

Another hint, take command of the water quality yourself after install instead of relying on the unreliable pool store and you don't have to worry about the filter trapping algae. There won't be any :thumbsup2

I have two suggestions to lower your price.

1. Get a round pool, they are much cheaper than oval; and easier to keep clean.

2. Get a salt system. It will pay for itself within the first year and save you tons of headaches.

I take a water sample to the local pool store about every 2-3 weeks and they must know what they are doing, I have only had a green pool 1x in 4 years, which was my fault, not theirs.

It never hurts to ask about less for cash.

If I got one, I would go salt water.

Hi,

I just bought an above ground pool. The store I went to had the pool marked 25 % off and then had a special where I got the filter/motor (DE), ladder vacuume, skimmer, all chemicals & everything else needed to use the pool for free. These extras would have totaled about $1,000.00. So I feel that I got a good deal.
I bought a 24' round x 52" high pool. It is the top of their line. Guaranteed for 40 years. I paid $2700 for the pool & liner and that price included the extras. I am having the company do the installation which will be $997.99.
Now I have to wait for the electrician to fill out his part of the permit & then turn the permit into my town. Then the pool will be installed about 2 weeks after we get the permit. I really hope it doesn't take long - it is 104 here today !!!!
