? about wifi in Vacation Central Fla townhouses

Last time we stayed at Windsor Hills, DH was the only one with a laptop. Wifi connection worked fine for just the one computer and we took turns using it. Now we've got 3 family members with laptops and one with a Kindle Fire. So I'm wondering if the I'net service is going to be noticeably slower if more than one of us tries to log on at the same time. We're renting a townhouse thru Vacation Central Florida. Anyone have any experience with logging multiple devices onto the I'net in their units? If it was slower, did it make a big enough difference that you would leave some of the electronics at home? We're driving so we've got room to take everybody's toys. But I would rather not bother if the connection is going to be useless for that many computers. TIA

Wi-fi is provided by the individual homeowner, so I'd ask whoever you are renting from.

Just got a chance to get back to this thread. Thanks, mrsklamc, I should have thought of that. I'll edit my op and see if that gets some responses. I'd really like to hear what others' experiences have been.

It really depends on what you are doing on the net (all at the same time) and the amount of bandwidth form the ISP. If it is just browsing or downloading a book or something, then generally you won't notice a slow down.

If it's a situation where someone is streaming video (Netflix, Hulu), playing a video game online (Call of Duty, Warcraft), or downloading huge files simultaneously, then yeah, you may experience a slowdown if the ISP service is less than 6Mb/sec. For example, it generally requires 6MB/sec minimum to stream standard video. 12MB/sec for HD video to avoid interruption in the stream.

Like the above poster said, just ask them what speed the internet connection is in the house.
