This current run of the "Bachelor" with Jessie Palmer is the first Bachelor/Bachelorette series that I have watched. Is it normal for the last few "contestants" to sleep with the Bachelor(ette)? I guess I'm a prude, but I was shocked when it was obvious that the 3 girls slept with Jessie. Is this the norm?

Hey there Min!

embarrassed to admit it but I watch the Bachelor....

In previous seasons the "Fantasy Suite" was offered and usually the girls accepted BUT I was not always SURE that they Slept with the bachelor..... it just did not seem to be put right out there that the Bachelor was definitely having sex with the women but Dang tonight it looked like Jessie got lucky with three woman... geez....

If it were me.. I don't think I could do it that way.... but then I have an old fashioned attitude about sex and love.... really being in love.

I have to say, I can't imagine laying on a bed with a man and making out with him while there are cameras in my face. So, so tacky!!! Their Mother's and Father's are going to watch that! Holy cow!! Have some class for God's sake!!

Although, it did look like there was a hidden camera in the suite that he and Tara were in, I would be ultra PO'd if something like that happened to me.

This show is really trying to go for the sleaze factor lately. There doesn't seem to be any emotion involved this season. I remember when Gwen got sent home a few seasons ago, my heart broke for her, this time I feel nothing.

I completely agree...I also felt bad for Gwen and Brooke after Aaron.

After seeing Jesse make out with Karen, Susie and Trish on the same date, I lost all respect for him.

From what I have skimmed over here on the DIS the past months on these shows (have never seen one actually), or have read brief writeups or editorials on, the shows are supposed to be purporting to be a current day meat market type concept...line the product choices up, look them over, squeeze it a bit, taste sample maybe, take the semi final slections home for a trial spin, return the losers, keep the final selection, but often times, tiring of it quickly, trashing it, and start over for a new piece of meat. Does not seem all that different that what is acceptable in RL for many, and if voyeuristicly it sells, that is what they will show and the public will buy and ask for more of to satisfy their viewing needs. Only thing is, the consumer always wants a little bit more, so, the producers give a little bit more the next time, but actually, it is a little bit less. Like the song goes, 'How low can you go?' Time and public attitudes of acceptability will dictate.

JMO, again, as a nonviewer, only a reader and listener.

Dan, you hit the nail on the head.

I saw Jesse on something the other night and I believe he said he slept with 3 women.

Bachelor Bob holds the record they said.

Well, you all burst my bubble of innocence. I watched last night's episode and just assumed that surely he didn't REALLY sleep with all three women--I figured the producers just wanted to imply that he did, for the excitement factor. But after reading this thread (and thinking about how Jesse had talked about often waking up next to a stranger) I'm looking back on that episode and thinking that he probably did sleep with all of them. That's pretty gross, to say the least. :crazy2:

Happymommy2, I thought that too. I wonder if there is a lot of pressure on the girls to sleep with him possibly thinking that if they don't, he'd pick the one who did? You know, the test drive theory.

I can't imagine what any of these people are thinking. I mean, even if you get picked in the end, rarely do these match-ups work out.

Dan, there are also jobs for the girls too! :p

Call me a prude but there is no way I would sleep with someone after only knowing them what a few weeks and only being around them a total of maybe 5 times? Nope, not happening, not to mention the fact that there are 3 other girls that I know of that he is dating also.

Nope, nope, nope. Sex is to casual these days. Heck sex has always been to casual for me, yep I'm a prude I guess but I would have to be in love with a person and know that they were in love with me and we had a serious relationship before sex was ever mentioned.

And like GM said, to KNOW that your PARENTS are watching, ewwww!!!!

The host Chris Harrison has called Jesse a complete moron, scum and ******* in interviews. I think that's why we haven't seen any behind the scenes footage of him and Jesse having the heart to heart conversations before eliminations that we got with all the other installments of the series.

Mandy J. got the ax, but not before Jesse spent the night with her in the fantasy suite.

I can certainly understand grown adults wanting to be intimate with one another -- I make no judgement there -- but to do it "on camera" is a bit much. I certainly cannot imagine my makeout session being broadcast on National TV.

Popular theory has it that they do sleep with each other during the overnight dates, with a few exceptions. For instance, Trista has claimed (and Charlie confirmed) that they did NOT sleep together (and she threw Russ out of the suite so nothing happened there) and I personally cannot imagine that Meredith slept with Matt or Chad either.

However, someone who posts at Television Without Pity, another board I sometimes visit, worked on the Bachelor shows and said both Andrew Firestone and Bob the Loser slept with all three women on their overnight dates. I have no trouble believing Jesse, who seems like a royal jerk, did the same.

I cannot imagine what would possess these women (and men!) to do something so utterly stupid and morally vacuous, but there it is.

eta: to clarify the morally vacuous comment, I certainly think adults have the right to be intimate with one another...even after a few weeks, but to do so during a TV show contest when you know he's probably doing the same with other girls (and even if they don't know, c'mon have they SEEN this show before?) is really, really questionable. Especially since they are probably doing it to win, not because there is any real feeling there.

Not only did the fact that he slept with all three women, but he knew before his last date that he "was falling in love" with the first 2 girls. He knew he wasn't falling for Mandy but slept with her anyway. Now that's scummy.

Maybe he was trying to get a little on the side, nothing wrong with scoring here and there, I mean, just casually.
