I was just watching the news and they are doing a movie about this kid. He's the one who was on the basketball team but hadn't played at all until the last few minutes of the last game when he sank like 6 shots in a row, remember? Anyway, they were showing some footage and they made it sound like it was footage of the actual event. Why then did a lot of the people in the stands have paper fans with his face on them??? I was under the impression that before this event he was pretty much the team towel boy. Was he a local celebrity for some other reason before all this or maybe this footage was from later? :confused3

It was the last game of his senior year. I am sure someone did that as support for all that he has done, and maybe a possible hopes he would get put into the game.

It showed his story and had him on Oprah yesterday...about amazing kids. I didn't catch the beginning of it though. I just saw the footage of him shooting the 6 3 pointers. That is cool they are doing a movie about it. :teeth:

This was close to my home town, so I have been following it a bit.

JMAC tried out for the basketball team when he was a freshman, but didn't make it. He became the team manager from there. For the next several years he did that.

Basically what happened next was the coach went to JMAC and said that he would try to get him into this last game of the season if he could. Word got out and some of the students made the picture paper fans.

He was actually put into the game with only a couple of minutes to go and he performed amazingly. The student body was incredibly supportive. They were waving the fans and cheering him on for every shot. The coach's hope was that JMAC got one basket. He ended up being one of the highest scores for the game. It was amazing.

I am not sure I would want to watch a movie about this, but I do think it is an amazing story. I am glad that he got the opportunity and that he has a night to remember for the rest of his life. The game sparked a lot of interest in him. He even got to meet President Bush.

Simply amazing.
