I am looking to book SW the problem is on the date i need there is no early morning flights available unless i pay over $300 for one way. Anyone think that they will open up some more seats in the recent days to come. I am not going to book this weekend since they did go up about $100 total since yesterday.

Southwest's fares for this next few months (at least out of PHL/BWI) are incredibly high compared to what I'm used to in the past. The prices are changing but they haven't dropped nearly to what I was hoping for. I'd look for other airlines just to keep your options open. I booked airtran for $86 dollars each way (before taxes/bags/seats), but even when you add all the fees, much better than the comparable flights on SW that at best were at $192.

SW routinely charges more for more desirable flights. Most people want to fly in the morning...so SW can get a higher fare vs the later in the day flights.

It depends n how full the flight is. I went in June of 2009 and the price the first day they came out was $367 roundtrip for the first morning flight and it never went down. The plane was full.

we are flying out of st.louis on february 19 return february 24. I also found that if i put in 3 tickets the price is $208, if i put in 2 tickets its $158, and 1 ticket its $109. How hard is it to manage at airport if i was to buy tickets seperate? Also can i buy a childs ticket seperate as well? So i could pay the $109 versed the $158 or $109 one way

You'll probably want to buy the 1 ticket at $109 first...and you may see one of the $158 tickets disappear. There's only so many "wanna get away" tix and then their prices vary based on availability. I'm betting you would end up with 1 @ $109, 1 @ $158, and 1 @ $208. The problem you get into is when you check-in you'll end up with two or three different boarding slots.

It's not difficult to manage, just a few more pieces of paper and marginally longer times at the check-in counter to check bags. That being said, don't expect that after you purchase the first ticket for $109 a second ticket will be available at the same price.

For our upcoming trip june 2nd-12th PHX-MCO SW is $422/rt at the lowest. Other times are even higher.

I have $90 SW credit. Figuring in other airlines charge $25 each way per bag and SW is free and my credit SW would end up costing about the same as other airlines.

Why is SW so much higher priced even with the free baggage? We found this last year as well.

Other than one AirTran flight per day (which seems to come and go), SWA is the only airline providing non-stop service from STL to MCO. As a result, they now are able to command higher prices for their tickets and in my experience those prices don't tend to go down; certainly not for the early morning flights as they are the most in demand.

FWIW, $109 one way is an excellent price for STL to MCO recently and $158 is pretty good too. We are commonly seeing $200+ each way for the dates and times we need to fly.

Try to book 9 tickets and see what happens to the price.

If you can't book 9 tickets, even at full fare, the plane is pretty full and I'd be surprised if you could book at a lower fare.

If you can book 9 tickets at the same fare as 1 ticket the plane might have a reasonable number of empty seats. You have a shot.

Why not book the later flight? Change to the earlier flight if the fare goes down. SW doesn't have a change fee.

Have you checked recently? SWA seems to have adjusted some prices since this AM, and I just got a mid-day non-stop flight in May for $89 one way ....... that flight has been $159 one way for over a month. It looks to me like the very early AM flight from St Louis has 3 seats at a low price.

Good luck.
