Hello!

My hubby & I currently have annual passes & we love them. They are due to expire this December & we were considering renewing them. It is my understanding that we will save some money by renewing our current passes rather than purchasing new passes next year.

I called the number inside my Mickey Monitor to ask my question & the woman I spoke with wasn't very sure of her answer. Does anyone know - is there a grace period to renew annual passes, or must you renew before the expiration date on the pass?

We are trying to plan a trip for January 2004 & then December 2004 to see the Christmas decorations again. I would need to wait until the middle-end of December to renew in order for this to work. Any advice anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!!:D

Hi there. While there is a grace period where you can renew your AP after the original one has expired (I think it's within a month), the renewal will still be dated effective with the original one's expiration. So if you AP expires on December 10th and you renew on December 29 th, your new AP will still be effective December 15 2003 through December 2004.

There's a 30-day grace period for renewing, but the expiration date will be the same. So, if your current pass expires Dec. 20, 2003, your new one will expire Dec. 20, 2004.

You should be aware of all the possibilities you may encounter:

If you get a nice Guest Relations CM, you can usually renew up to 30 days after your expiration date and have your pass backdated as tar heel said. But under the current renewal policy that went into effect in October of 2000, there is technically no grace period. Your AP expires on the printed date and so does your opportunity to pay the renewal price to renew it. That's the written policy.

As I said, some GR CMs will still do the renewal a month after it expires. Some won't.

Just wanted to thank everyone who has responded. I had no idea that the expiration date would remain the same - definitely good info to have. We'll have to make sure to renew before the expiration date to avoid any potential problems. Does anyone know - does Disney send you a renewal reminder or anything? Should I just call to renew? Thanks again!

Most everyone gets a renewal notification but there are a lot of folks who say they never got one. You don't need it to renew. You can call and do it on the phone. They will send you a voucher like you'd get for a new AP that you turn in at WDW to get your actual renewed AP. The expiration date will indeed be backdated to your prior pass' expiration.

Our family had five APs that expired two weeks ago, and this time none of us got a renewal reminder. A couple years ago, only one of the children received one. Funny thing is we finally received a Mickey Monitor -- after the passes expired!

I renewed ours last month, and just got the renewal notice this weekend. Ours expire 8/14, the first day of our trip this year, so I'll get one more day on last year's pass.
