Since Palo's is a ressies-only resteraunt...do you have to pay for it?

Stupid question I know..but I had to ask.

For brunch you are charged $10 and for dinner I believe you are charged $5 per person. I remember someone saying that was equivalent to a tip or for the brunch for the champagne and tip.

Ok...so I'm guessing that unlike elsewhere on the ship where you are required to pay for any alcohol you consume, the champagne in Palo's is free of charge with your meal?

Gayle(UDB)

for the champagne brunch offered on the 7-day, you are given, included in the $10.00 cover charge, a glass of champagne...As for Palo dinner, the $5.00 cover charge does not include any alcohol, which is extra...

FYI-because of the phenomenal service, most diners at Palo tip beyond the $5.00 pp cover charge

Ah..thanks. That clears THAT up. Now another question (which I know is probably stupid..but again..have to ask). Is it possible to get into dinner at Palo's in a nice polo/buttondown with tie and pressed khakis? I know..I know...you're supposed to wear a tux but DH absolutely refuses to wear those monkeysuits unless somebody forces him to for a wedding or something. Would we be turned away if he wore a nice buttondown with a tie or a pressed polo and pressed khakis?

You are not required to wear a tux to Palo. The suggested dress is "jacket recommended." I think shirt-and-tie is fine, and have seen many people in Palo dressed like this. You could probably get away with a polo shirt, too. I usually go with jacket and tie, for what that's worth....

I've never seen anyone wearing a tux at Palo....the most formal I've ever seen is a dark suit...

However, I would recommend a jacket, with a polo type shirt or dress shirt under it....you can nix the tie though

w/o a jacket, DH will definitely be in the minority....

Actually, you're not "supposed to wear a tux." The suggested dress at Palo is simply "jacket recommended." Palo is not a formal attire restaurant (unless it's a semi-formal or formal night, or you want to dress formally).

Palo is a dressy place without children, so you'll probably want to dress up. A suit and tie is fine; a sportcoat over a polo shirt is fine too. Men aren't turned away if they choose not to wear any coat at all. A man in a long-sleeved dress shirt and tie would fit right in, even without a coat.

Even for the formal night, regardless of what dining room you're in, you're not "supposed to wear a tux." They simply recommend formal attire, which is typically a tuxedo or a dark business suit. But many men choose to dress somewhat less formally (and a few don't make any effort at all).

See and that's the thing. While DH owns a lot of very nice buttondowns, some nice ties to go with them and a LOT of khakis, he does not currently own a sports coat. Well..he does, but it's something he's had since HS that doesn't fit anymore. and he refuses to get rid of it. I don't want to spend all that money on a jacket he'll wear maybe three times in his entire life (all of them onboard ship).:) Do places rent out sport coats for a week or so and not charge an arm and a leg?

Unfortunately, they don't seem to enforce the dress code at all.
A jacket is appropriate, but I see polo shirts there all the time. And yes, I have even seen a guy there in a bathing suit and water shoes! Yes, really. If that were me, I would have had a bag over my head.

And please... can we all call it PALO, and not "Palo's"? :)

thats my pet peeve as well ...."Palo's" - as if the restaurant is named after a guy named Palo....

My goal in life is to not fit in but still stay inside the lines :) Unless it's formal night (I wear a tux) I typically wear a jacket, tie, and nice pants of the khaki variety. I feel more creative not wearing a suit! :)

Plus I bought all this linen stuff this summer which will be perfect for the cruise! Everything on sale now (summer stuff) seems great for the cruise.

My point exactly, alexandrew! Thank you! :)

There's no little Italian man standing in the kitchen named Palo.

Now, if the restaurant belonged to ME, you could all call it "Beano's"... but since it doesn't, let's stick to 'Palo'. :)

The "Palo's" thing bugs me, too, but not as much as referring to the ship as a boat.

Can you get shrimps at Palo's on the boat, or do you have to get them during the formal night on the Wonder? ;)

(...there is not a formal night on the Wonder...the Magic and Wonder are ships...and you can eat shrimp in various places...Palo may be one of them!) :p

Hey, if the Wonder and Magic are ships, not boats, then why does Disney call it The Big Red Boat? :)

[Actually, The Big Red Boat was the now-defunct Premier Cruise Line, which pioneered land-and-sea "Disney cruises," before there was a Disney Cruise Line.]

Thanks for that clarification Horace...I should have known since the Magic and Wonder aren't even red.....;)

(yes everyone...we are joking...all in good fun!)

Kamgen, the only place I remember having shrimps was at Palo's during brunch on the little boat, the Wonder!

(There is no brunch on the Wonder, it is not smaller than the Magic, it's a ship, not a boat, it's shrimp not "shrimps", and Palo, not "Palo's")

There, nice to have that out of my system!!

But but...Beano...they called it Palo's on the Travel Channel special the other day....
I thought it WAS called Palo's...honest. I promise to leave off the 's from now on and just call it PALO.
