? about old passes and what can I do with them

My grandma is sending me some old passes from YEARS ago. We will be in the world the first week of July and we got a MYW package. I know I need to go to Guest services to see what is on these tickets. What can you do with old tickets with remaining days? If I go to Guest services and they scan them, can I take them back with me to use at a later date? TIA for your help

If they are really old they can change them over to the new ticket stock so you can use them in the fast pass machine.

jenr812 - up until recently, passes never expired. Bring the tickets to guest services and they can tell you how may days you have left on them. Also if you want they can upgrade them for you.

If you already have your tickets for the upcoming vacation, you might as well leave the old tickets at home for yet another future vacation. But no harm in bringing them and having them scanned now, you do not have to use them now. Have a suitable pen or marker (try it out in advance) so you can quickly write on each ticket what it has remaining, before you forget or mix the tickets up. Ballpoint pens do not seem to work well.

To get an idea of how much you will save by using the old tickets as-is, figure out the cost of new tickets both with and without the use of old tickets. You may well find that the savings is only three dollars for each old ticket park day you brought into the picture.

The best bargain in using old tickets is had when your vacation is exactly 1, 2, 3, 11, or 12 days long, or if there are enough old tickets to use that one person doesn't need to buy new ones to finish the vacation with, or if you already decided to buy a 10 day non-expiring ticket for present and future use. Not everybody has a vacation that meets these guidelines.

Totally unused old tickets, I am told, can be traded up to MYW tickets without the requirement of purchasing non-expiration which limits the effective value of trade ups for some vacation plans.

Thanks so much for the replies, everyone! So depending on the type/age/#of days left on each ticket, its value will vary. But in theory I can use that towards the purchase of new tickets? If it fits my itinerary?

You can't combine the old tickets towards one new ticket. You may be better off to just use the old days and when you run out of those to purchase new MYW tickets.

So, here's my situation, I have 2 adult/2 child old Park Hopper Pluses, unused.

The price on these is $1,212.02 advanced price and $1,312.10 gate price.

Which price will they give me if I upgrade to a 10-day MYW with no exp., plus features, and hopping privileges--the advanced or the gate price?

Does anyone know?

Yes. But if you saved the old passes and added an eighth day to the MYW pass instead, it would cost you three dollars. Three dollars is not the same thing as free (obviously) but you really want to surrender the old pass for only a three dollar savings when you might use it for a day tripper later and save sixty five dollars?

I knew that I can't combine them. I'm wondering if they can be used one to one. IE We'd need 4 tickets if we stayed an extra day. If we had 4 tickets each with (at least) 1 unused day, is my logic right? Thanks

We posted at the same time What you said makes a lot of sense! I didn't realize how neglible that extra day is if purchased on the MYW ticket. What a deal!!! So your advice is to save the tix for a later date, since they never expire, and then use them for a shorter trip? Thanks so much for being patient with me
