Someone on another thread mentioned that a CM said something about FL RES codes not being released this year. Well, the CM I spoke with when I made my ressies last week mentioned SEVERAL times throughout our conversation that, "we know you won't be paying this amount".

I just wanted to point out that FL residents have MANY options to Disney right here in FL. Universal and Busch Gardens are ALWAYS offering deals to residents-like two years for the price of one (Universal).
Disney has to compete with them.Universal is VERY popular in south FL (which is most of the population of the state). Their annual pass is WAY cheaper and has no blackouts. Hotels in FL offer great deals to residents, so Disney basically has to compete for resident business with them as well.

I hope they do for sure offer FL resident rates even if no other rates are offered. I'm not even from FL :) It's a very smart business move for lots and lots of reasons. Good luck!!

I hope they offer FL resident codes as well, however if the rooms are filling up at rack rate, why would they? It wouldn't make sense.

There will be FL resident rates, just not very many rooms offered at the resident rates.

Remember when May was considered "slow"? I suppose if there are fewer slow times there should be fewer discounts to all groups as they are not needed to draw people in. That said, to offer no FL discounts the same year they changed the 4play to a 3 day no hopper might make it a real good year for FL residents to check out some other destinations or other parks.

A few weeks ago when I called about codes the CM said if codes come out they would probably be for Forida residents and AP holders at this time and depending on how bookings were for the summer would determine if codes for everyone else would come out. She also mentioned that with the bookings being what they were for May and with everything going on in May that the CMs really didn't see why Disney would offer codes for May. She seemed to think, and said the other CMs did also, that the codes would be for the summer months and that May may be skipped this year. I sure hope she's wrong, about no May codes.

I do believe Florida resident codes will be out however. I can't see Disney alienating Floridians.

Disney has been known to "skip" months. Just 2 years ago they did not offer Sept rates at all! If the gen public is ready and willing to pay more they will win out the war of the codes! Not a good thing to see but, they are a business and do need to make money! I myself like to see the parks full. I have quite a bit of stock in the company and are looking to gain some lost ground since 2001.

I think there will be Fl Resident rates, but not with as much lead time as some may like.

FL resident rates typically follow the same rates as the AP discounts. Disney depends on FL residents, as I would imagine that they are really the life's blood of WDW. They go way more often than the rest of us. Everyone knows that Safetymom goes daily :) ! We have been AP holders forever and until a couple years ago, FL residents, and I cannot, for the life of me, remember anytime that FL residents were left out of any discounts. We would go to the parks 7-8 times a year as opposed to twice a year now. I remember times where there we no discounts at certain resorts for AP holders and there we're still FL discounts. Walt Disney World has always been good to the state of Florida. I would chalk the CM's response up to speculation and wait and see what happens later in the year. I'd bet the FL discounts will still be there.

I'm still waiting for the codes - maybe tomorrow? We will be there 4/25-4/27. The only difference in getting the codes for me would to be booking 2 rooms instead of one. I know they can do 5 in a room at the Poly, but I would rather have my family in one room and the grandparents in the other. If codes don't come out and my parents have to stay in our room, I guess there could be worse things. We just wanted the second bathroom!

With schools out for the summer, wouldn't there be a better chance of May discounts than June-August? I know May is looking to be busier than normal but I was guessing the summer would be as well. Not sure why they would bother with any discounts except maybe May and September (hurricane month and historically slow season).

Yes. I know May will be very busy, but most kids will still be in school. A lot of parents will wait until school is out to go to WDW. I believe summer will be very busy as well.

Schools in the south start getting out fairly early in May. However, they start back in early August.

I have lots of friends who take their family vaction almost immediately after school lets out to avoid conflicts with camps and other activities.

I was a little confused when I booked our upcoming April trip. I asked the CRO agent to check for the CR with the BDP code, and mentioned that we're also Florida residents. She made sure to tell me that I'll need to show my Florida ID. So I'm not sure if I got the FL Res rate or the BDP code rate. Looking just now at my confirmation paper, it shows "7 Night Winter Room Only." I guess the "winter" refers to the BDP rate. The rate was for a standard wing room for $212.97 per night. So I guess it's true that they really haven't been releasing FL Res rates as everyone is reporting! :sad2:

They did offer the rates to FL residents then. Back in '85 we started buying what was called the 3 season pass. It was good in the months of Jan., May, and Sept. These were considered FL months since it was typically a slow time and they were trying to draw FL residents to the park. They also always offered resort discounts during those months to FL residents. We go to Disney every year in Sept since '96 and they are always offering FL codes. Though they have been taking their time lately posting the codes. I would not be surprised if they didn't offer codes for May considering the big celebration coming up. I will again wait til Sept to go. Maybe with people worrying about Hurricane season it will be slow as usual. We will still go I just hope and pray its a quiet season this year.

After last year's fiasco (cancelling and rebooking 3 times in 3 weeks and then coming home a day early due to Jean) I will be waiting until the LAST minute to book for Sept!
As for our May trip, I really do not want to pay that much for the Poly (394 with tax). I may end up at a mod and then my room will be cancelled.

This is weird. If you cancel your own reservation, isn't there then availability???

If there is NO rate for May, I will switch my days till August! I have to admit, I believe last year was the first year they offered a code for us Fl. residents for June/July/August, I remember telling someone I was surprised they did that, and it was odd they did it. My Seasonal pass is for the "slow" months and I had this problem last year: Great rates for for Hotel, but, couldn't use the Seasonal Pass! :confused3 I am hoping and wishing :wizard: for a Code for us for May, but, with it being the beginning of the "Anniversary" of DL maybe they won't. :confused3

last year there were codes for May. they came out late, but I still got a rate of 221 for the BC for memorl day weekend.
