What is there to do in Hilton Head on the first week of January? I assume it will be very cold. Any ideas?

It may be cold, very cold its there off season so it may be a little quite and closed up around down. :cool1: you can ride bikes or walk on the beach weather permitting and relax around the resort which is wonderfull by the way.

Thanks, can you swim in the pools at all? Do they have any children's programs during this time? Will there be nearby restaurants open for business? Do they do anything special for New Year's Eve? We are on the waitlist for that day.

Don't worry HH does not close down for the winter, Plenty of fine resturants and lots to do. Weather may be very nice though I doubt if you'll be swimming in the ocean. The pool is heated and the hot tub is open might need an extra towel for the walk back to your room. Programs run during the off seasons but you should check schedules daily. SC has some hot days and some cold days in Jan so it's anybody's guess as to which you'll get, unless it's real bad there is plenty to do in HH and the nearby cities such as Savana, Beufort and Charleston. Charleston is a little deceiving in that it looks close but takes atleast an 1 1/2 hours to get there. But well worth the trip IMO. Savana also is a very nice day trip. Unless you have trouble walking save your money on the bus pass and just get a good walking tour map. We bought a pass then got off on the third stop and never got back on. The ghost tour is fun.

We live here in Charleston and we definitely don't have any warm days in January unless it's a fluke few days! Temps are usually in the upper 40's to mid 50's! That is cold for us! You definitely would not want to go in the ocean!( Unless you are very brave!) Have a good trip!
