HI, We are going to DL in August for our first time ever. I have been reading a lot lately about characters at character meals (mostly Goofy's) that are there but don't actually come to all tables, just the ones they choose to stop at?? Is this actually true?? We have been to soooo many character meals at DW and have seen every character that is in the restaurant at our table. (Except if there is a character that is only standing in a certain place, etc.) If a character missed our table for any reason, we would just tell a CM and the character would come right over. I just read here recently that a family was asked to leave because they were waiting at their table after finishing the meal, for any of the characters to come over and they never came. I can't see paying all that money to eat at the restaurant if we are not even guaranteed to have a picture with each character, or even some of the characters. So, tell me how often does this happen??

I've heard of it happening, but we didn't run into that problem last year at Goofy's. We were in a room that the characters just made one big circle in visiting each and every table and spent a good amount of time at each table too. Our experience was a good one, we're trying the Plaza Inn this time....

I can only speak for the times we have gone: Lilo and Stitch's saw all five characters and they came to us- food was great. We have been to Goofy's for breakfast once and food was good and saw 7 characters no issues. This last trip we went to Goofy's for dinner and saw 8 characters and they all stopped at our table. We have done Storyteller's and this was the only time we had issues with characters.....hardly any on the floor and we camped for 30 min. waiting for Kenai. We did tell our server we weren't leaving until he came over and by golly, he magically appeared a few minutes later. Food was great here too but we prefer the upbeatedness (is that a word?) at Goofy's and Lilo's.

Max never made it to our table during our last meal at Goofys. And Donald came while dh and I were getting food. Grandma and Grandpa didnt know how to take a picture, so we had to request that he come back. They seemed a bit bothered by that. We have not had that experience at Minnies. At Minnies we've had most of the come around more then once during our meal.

We loved Goofy's Kitchen. We had great character interaction and each character spent quite a bit of time at our table, even though it was busy. I can't remember who we saw off the top of my head but I do remember:

Goofy
Gepetto
Captain Hook
Chip and Dale
Mad Hatter
Pluto (out front taking pictures)
...I know there were a couple more, I just can't remember. I'll have to look at pictures.

We also did Ariel's Grotto. I did this one on a night when my husband took my oldest son to an Angel's game. The little ones and I went to the Block Party Bash (i'm SO going to miss this) and then to Ariel's for dinner. Both kids, a boy who was 5 and a girl who was almost 3 LOVED the interaction with the princesses.

While I didn't love the food at either one, I certainly didn't hate it and was able to find plenty to eat at Goofy's. I honestly can't even remember what I had at the Grotto but I remember it being okay. My kids loved the food both place, though.

This May we're planning on doing several more Character meals. We'll do Goofy's Kitchen, Minnie and Friends Breakfast, Ariel's Grotto, and Storyteller's Critters Breakfast.
Good luck with your planning.

We have eaten at Goofy's three times and have had that happen once. During that particular meal we were seated in one of the aisle sections rather than the big rooms. I believe three characters stopped at our table. Sadly, we were there to celebrate ds's bday. That was a really off night. Our server didn't refill our drinks or clear plates away. Weird! My dh calmly spoke to the manager. He ended up comping our meal and was willing to do something else if we had been staying at one of the resort hotels. We were off site that trip, but were happy with the meal comp.
