has anyone been successful extending the expiration date of credit from a cancelled ticket on Southwest? My credit expires on June 12, and I am not sure that I will be flying before then. I hate the thought of leaving this $120 on the table.....

thanks!

You can call customer service, sometimes they will extend. You can also sell it to someone else.

thanks, Gail!

I asked CS this morning and was told absolutely no extensions, period. It can't hurt to keep trying, right?

actually, I think my DH is the one I need to keep working on, to take that Spring Break trip :teeth:

if worse somes to worse, what do I do to sell it?

I had a friend who had a credit that expired, I called the 800 reservation number and they were able to give me a number to call to speak with someone about extending it. Unfortunately, that was a couple of years ago and I no longer have the number, but, I can tell you it was an office that was a 9-5er type.

As to selling it, you could put it out on Ebay.

Personally, I like your thoughts on working DH for another trip!!! ;)

well....I convinced him

then, I logged onto www.iflyswa.com this morning, only to find that the internet rates are GONE!!!!!:earseek:

where did they go?????

I didn't realize that Southwest made changes to the fares on Saturdays.....

I am seriously bummed now.

Back to begging for an extension. I only need a week.

There's Internet one-way fares ($99 - $130) off to the far right.

On Friday, the internet fare was $59. The cheapest fare now is a fun fare of $104. This is Nashville-Orlando.

We used a credit that should have been way past the time allowed to use it. The online computer took it. Try another date and see if it will take it, assuming you can replan.

What are your dates? Are you trying to reserve during their black out dates which are 3/18/04 - 4/11/04?

as soon as southwest opens up their dates I'll try it ;)

I'm not sure about any blackout dates. The other day, a poster mentioned a $118 RT fare from BNA/MCO. I checked it out, and the fare was either a "promotional" or "internet" fare, good on T-W-Sa only. The dates are March 25 & March 30. It was there on Friday, and now it's gone  there are no internet or promotional fares out of nashville, at any time. I've played the SWA game for a while now. I was very surprised to see a fare change on a Saturday, especially when none of the other markets I check didn't change at all.

very frustrating.

I called and begged for an extension too - even offered to add the extra bucks to bring it up to the refundable anytime fare and they were adamant about no extensions..

I found I could transfer my portion to my DD's MIL (she wanted to go to Florida and take my DD and granddaughter - who were already on the other two tickets) but the MIL backed out - she's afraid to fly..

I then asked about giving the credit to someone else (with the thought in the back of my mind I might be able to sell them on eBay) and was told in order to do that I would have to give that person my name and credit card# that I paid with and I'm obviously not going to give it to a total stranger..

So - now I'm planning a quick trip to Nashville with my DD in May - which will use up $452.80 of the credit - but I'm still left with losing $234.60.. :(

If anyone knows of a sure-fire way I can sell these things without having to provide my name and cc# to anyone, I'd love to hear it! No way I can take another trip anywhere to use up what's left before Aug. 13th..

from what I understand, all you need for the credit is the confirmation number and the person's name from the reservation. Here's an example I found from ebay:

You are bidding on a Southwest Airlines Credit. I recently had to cancel a reservation on Southwest Airlines and now I have a $176 non-refundable credit. Unfortunately I have no use for the credit, so I am auctioning it off to try to recoup some of my costs.
The original credit is valued at $176.00 and it is fully transferrable.

Southwest Airlines requires:

1. A confirmation number and
2. The name of the person who made the original purchase.

Winning bidder will receive this information.
Travel must be completed by February 18, 2004.

The other poster gave you correct information. You only need the name the credit card is in and the confirmation number.

Those dates are during their blackout dates for florida promo fares. I have no idea why they were there in the first place. Maybe they saw the errors of their ways and removed them.

I have seen them change their rates throughout the week, so, Tues. is not the only day. It can be very confusing and frustrating, but, I do wish you luck. :)
