I am just looking for anyone who has gone through a DVC member to make reservations for your holiday at Disny World. How was your experience and how difficult is it?

i actually rented before i bought in. it worked out well but there are risks involved.

1) there are usually no refunds for cancellations since you are dealing with an individual who may lose their pts if you have to cancel the reservation - so be absolutely sure of your plans.

2) the DVC owner controls the reservation until you check in - so if you want to add the dining plan, or magical express from the airport, or any requests...it all has to go through the owner. the lack of control bothered me - i'm happier as an owner.

here is a good thread for learning about renting from a DVC owner:

I've rented a few times with no issues at all. I think the vast majority of transactions are uneventful. I used Pay Pal the most recent time which made things that much easier. As a matter of fact one of the people I rented from emails me whenever he has extra points.

It is a bit scary the first time but you will save a lot of money.

Thanks for the input! I think we will go with the DVC pnts, I love staying onsite, and we are bringing first timers, so I want to give them the whole Disney experience.

The holiday time period is very popular with DVC members. You have have a hard time at this point if you are looking for a specific resort.
