I saw the thread below but I don't think it answered all of my questions. My 3 year old has food allergies to dairy, soy, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts. I feel sure they will be able to accommodate us. We have reservations for dinner both nights - one at Cinderella's Royal Table and the other at Crystal Palace. The have on our reservations the food allergies. How do I handle lunch? Is there a specific number to call b/c we called WDW-DINE and she couldn't help much with specifics. She gave us a number to a the food services rep - can they help more? Do I need to call them before we go? As far as counter service - are they able to help with the food allergies? I can go in a few minutes before hand, like the other post said and get things settled? Do I need to take cards to hand them or are the pretty good? And lastly (I think) do they allow snacks inside the park - I was told yes but read no. Thanks!

We had no problems with our son who has allergies to shellfish, fish, peanuts, treenuts and corn. Our TS meals were excellent -- the chef always came out to speak with us or walk us through the buffet line. We had no problems at CS meals or snack carts. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable. Once, the CM did not know if the pretzels were safe and he made a quick phone call. We had the answer within 1 minute. Yes, you can take snacks into the park. We brought fruit snacks and water with us and there were no questions asked. Hope this helps.

My son has an allergy to Peanuts and Tree Nuts. When you make tour ADR's they give you a phone number to call ahead before you go. I have done that once and it worked out fine. It was my sons BDay so I called and ordered they a safe cake for him, and to make sure there were items on the menu he can eat. Since he was mostly Fries and Nuggets or Mac and Cheese there wasn't any reason for them to make him anything special. My Mother has a Wheat and Gluten Allergy and they would offer to make her anything she wanted some places said it didn't even need to be on the menu.
If we didn't call ahead we told them when we ordered and they always brought the chef out. at CS we asked what was in the food we ordered, all CS has a book with ingredents. Let them know everywhere you go about the allergy and they will HELP YOU. When we bought ice cream from the carts we even had them call someone to make sure the Mickey Bars where safe, even though we read the ingredeints we wanted to make sure. They are more then happy to help.
At Hollywood and Vine the Chef said the BBQ sauce was safe but I wasn't sure so I asked him to read the bottle he went and got it to ease my mind, he was happy to help.

You can take food into the parks we do all the time for my son.
Any more questions please ask I will help all that I can.

In the Passporters books (I read the allergy section at Barnes and Nobles, didn't buy it) for 2007 they discuss it. In the Special Needs book it goes into greater detail. It says to tell the CM for ADR, but also call 72 hours in advance for each ADR to confirm. Also, mention it to the CM seating you. Also, there was a number (or email addy) to request information from each park (I guess the Head CM over the restaurants) for dietary needs. I'm not going to go that far....I probably would if it were my children's allergies (just not my own, apparently).

Just returned from a week at WDW with a peanut allergic child, age 5. I have to say that Disney really handles food allergies well, and everyone we encountered was knowledgeable, kind, and attentive.

I made note of dd's peanut allergy on all of our reservations. I also contacted Brenda Bennet at Brenda.Bennett@disney.com from their food services via email and heard back from her within the day. She sent me a list of all snacks sold on the premises and what potential allergens they contained. I was also given a form to fill out which was sent to all of our TS restaurants.

We mostly dined at character meals and we very much appreciated the buffets. We met with the chef at every meal - s/he came out to meet with us very quickly on all occasions to go over the menu. If it was a buffet, they would walk the buffet with me and point out anything that might not be safe. We were so excited that the ice cream bars were soft serve, and even the jimmies and sprinkles were safe! On one occasion (Askerhaus Princess Breakfast) the chef even offered to make a pancake for DD that was not on the menu.

Our food court was also very accomodating - we stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter. We were told that there were no peanuts in anything at all (maybe no nuts at all? I'm not sure as we do not have a tree nut issue...) The only thing to stay away from was the pastries. And the homemade ice cream was SAFE! :yay:

We also have a dd who cannot tolerate cow's milk. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the food court kitchen and almost all table service restaurants were able to serve her soy milk.

BTW, I've been told the Mickey ice cream bars are a "may contain," so I'd be extra careful with them. We stuck to the Itzakadoodle popsicles to be safe. Oh, and some places sell packaged cookies made by Divvies; look for them - they are nut free! :cool1: http://www.divvies.com/facts.php

Good luck! I have to say that Disney is one of the few places I feel comfortable dealing with dd's allergy.

I am hearing a lot of different opinions about the Mickey Bars, I did read them last year when we were there and nothing anywhere on it said "May Contain or Is Processed With" We had them call their supervisor and I don't know what they checked but they came back and said it was safe. Is this something new on the package or did someone tell you?
My PA anf TNA son ate them for 2 weeks last year and never had a problem, Did something change? Does it say it on the package? Now I am worried about it, and he Loved them so much.

Apparently they used to NOT be safe, but then they did become safe. Of course check for yourself if you are still uncomfortable. :)

As mentioned, contact Brenda Bennett, she can answer any specific questions you have. She made it very easy to eat meals on the go in the parks and the restaurants are always good at working with your needs. Our dd is highly allergic to peanuts and shellfish. We had more of a problem with the plane than the whole time at Disney.

My dd5 has peanut and treenut allergies, severe ones. We were sooo impressed how WDW helped us and made dining an easy fun experience with her. The chef always came out, walked us through everything, and was very knowledgeable regarding cross contamination, and things that were made in facilities that produced the allergic items. We had absolutely no trouble. they were so accomadating. I think it is the best place to take a kiddo with allergies.

Hey....I've had TONS of problems on airlines. Delta made me feel like a total leper, and even pointed out to other passengers that I was the reason they couldn't have peanuts on the plane. And actually, they harrassed me so much that I let them hand out peanuts...except for a 5 row buffer in front and behind me. I made sure they knew I was travelling with the twins ALONE, and that if I went into anaphylactic shock they could deal with them and me! And it's tough....we live in Cinci...a Delta hub.

BUT the good news is....AIRTRAN IS NUT FREE! Well, as nut free as they can be, I guess. I mean, other passengers can bring on that Reese's PB Cup....I was assured of this just this week by a rep over the phone. And apparently, their flight crews make good decisions on unruly passengers.;) They also seem to have great prices right now. Our round-trip, no layover flights (Dayton to Orlando)were less than $120/person (Delta out of Cinci was close to $400!):scared:

OT- my cousin has friends that have kids that are alergic to Vitamin C. We have been to a feww of the parties that they have been to. Mom sends their own drink and some times snacks. When they go out to pizza hut the order meat with no sauce.

I had no idea how many things had V-C in it. These kids do take a vitamin, and what the mother said is that they will out grow most of if, I thinks she was the same way growing up.

Is this an unusual type.

Also cousin keeps another little boy that is allergic to alot of things (nut, wheat, milk, etc.) He is very little. Parents dont know where to vacation. they hardly ever eat out. Cousin should tell them to go to WDW they will treat you right.

We just ate at Cinderella's on Friday, and there was a family next to us who had a peanut/tree nut allergy. The chef explained to them their dining options and he told them that, since he knew about the allergy, he was not allowed to bring the child any non-conforming food. He was also very aware of cross-contamination issues.
