Do you have to add the dining plan for your entire stay or can you do it for a couple of days?
Thank you DVCers.

You have to purchase the dining plan for every person on your reservation for every night of your stay (just like the non-DVC dining plan). So, you can't just do it for a couple of days during your stay. It is not tied to tickets in anyway however, unlike the non-DVC dining plan that requires ticket purchases.

Thanks for the info. Have you used the dining plan? DH seems to think it is not a great deal since we stay in a 1 or 2 bedroom and eat in 2 of the 3 meals a day. Any thoughts?

Oh no, I didn't know that. Although we are staying for 8 days in October I was only planning on doing the dining plan for 4 because the other days we'll be at Universal & Sea World. Now I don't know what to do.

Just signed on to this site because we bought into DVC last year and are planning our first trip to SSR this June. I Had a question about the Dining Plan...has anyone bought the plan as a dvc member and did you think it was worth it..we have all our reservations made for the restaurants we want to go to and are just trying to decide if we eant to get the plan or bring cash...any help would be greatly appreciated!

:teeth:

One thing to consider if you don't want the plan for your whole stay is making separate reservations. We are staying at BCV for a couple days then moving to SSR for a week. I thought about not getting the DDP for the first few days at BCV but then getting it for the days we ar at SSR. You might have to move rooms, if you make separate reservations (you don't have to switch resorts like we did!), but that might be worth it if you don't want the DDP the whole time.

I would double check on the separate ressie. I have read several times, that if you stay at the same resort in the same size unit, it will still count as the same reservation. Another thing to consider, especially for the smaller resorts, is that if you do move for the sake of the dining plan, your room may not be ready until late afternoon and that could impact your day.

Also, we need to think like the dues paying members that we are. If everyone moves, just to save money on the Dining Plan, what are we really saving, if our administration and housekeeping costs increase because of it? :duck: We are not guests, we are members and all costs are passed along to us, so we really need to be more cautious of what we advise, especially on a public forum. Please dont take this as a flame, because it is not, just another pov.

With some of the other LOS required options in the past, Disney has stated that any consecutive days in the same resort were counted as one stay even if in different unit types. I know they didn't track it very well but it was the rules in some cases.

K&KsMomm I agree with your husband that it is frequently not a good deal for many but it depends on how and what you tend to eat.

We bought the plan last year. I loved it! DH & DS were sometimes challenged to find an appetizer/dessert to tempt them - picky eaters.

We too went touring off-site for a few days but, didn't lose any credits. Either enjoyed a Signature rest. for dinner, ate late when we returned to the World or double dipped w/Char. Breakfast & Dinner a few days. You can always use the snack credits for bottled water.

Not sure how old your kids are but, I'd try it out when they still eat @ the kid's rate - get's pricey when they turn 10. Enjoy the magic.
