About designer handbags...

I do like Kate Spade. I just never find any I'd use on a regular basis. I went shopping with DH's aunt and cousin over the holidays. They got these really cute clutches but I would only use it a few times a year and can't justify the price for that.

I have a D & B hobo bag that I just love. So much so, that I bought 2. One in black and one in ivory. It really is a sturdy purse and the D & B name is very subtle, on the hardware and not "in your face". It is roomy enough it sometimes doubles as a purse/camera bag. although it is pricey, I wouldn't mind having it in another color, as well!

I like my Coach bags - outlet and non outlet, have several different colored D&B bags in the same style (Mini Tassel tote), different colors, also have several Brahmin bags I love. Have one big MK tote, but no purses -haven't found a style I love ... got a great deal on a Kate Spade last year on a cruise. My friend has a LV that is too small for her, she got a bigger one, so I am waiting for her to decide to sell the smaller one to me!

 I have an addiction weakness for expensive nice shoes and handbags. They are used often, but last forever when cared for properly.

Buy what YOU like and can afford.

Our local outlet mall has Coach, Michael Kors, Burberry and Kate Spade stores. All of them have handbags that are good deals. Still not cheap, but lower price points than what you'd find at their regular retail stores. I got a Coach wristlet there that I use all the time which I love. The Michael Kors bags I like are around $200 and are great quality.

I will admit that even though I like the look of some designer bags I am not really a big purse person. I could not see myself spending more that a few hundred on a purse definitely not $1K+ as some are. I bought my first Coach purse ( outlet) a few months. It took me a long time to find one I liked. I love it and it appears good quality and don't care that it outlet versus non outlet. I don't know enough about them to know the difference. I do also have an Aulani themed D&B wristlet which I bought there as my souvenir. I will probably get a lighter coloured purse in the Spring. If I do do another designer I might try a Kate Spade one as I have been eyeing them.

I absolutely love my Coach tote bags. While I adore the D&B Disney bags, I have been disappointed with the quality and/or lack of leather. My current obsession is with the Harvey's Disney Couture bags. While not leather, I'm truly enjoying the quality of the bags along with their feel and durability (the same reasons while I prefer leather).

I love purses & handbags. They are my favourite things to buy. I own more then a few *blushes*

I started out buying non Disney Dooney & Burke a long time ago, then Coach & MK. When they became the most trendy/desired bags - I switched to Kate Spade and Ted Baker, both are my go to brands these days, along with newer favourite Tori Burch.

My latest bag & my most favourite ever right now, is a black suede fringed satchel by Danier Leather. :)
I have been looking for a real suede bag in black for a long, long time - found this one on Boxing Day & fell in love! It may not have the cachè of a designer name attached, but the quality & materials are exceptional and I am really enjoying carrying it ;)

I'm a fan of Longchamp. They have leather bags as well as fold up day to day bags. I have a nice small saddle bag in leather from them. I love it and it has held up very well.

I'm a fan of Vera Bradly but they may not be "high end" for some. They are fabric and machine washable so they are my go to daily bag. They also make some leather bags but I only have one Disney lesther bag from them and I have never used it.

I also have D&B but only got it because I loved the DL60 design.

I have a Burberry bag that is probably 4 years old and it is wearing extremely well. I never get tired of it.

My Coach bags never wear out. I only by the leather, non-logo ones though. I am very hard on handbags. I am not a handbag snob at all, but I do need it not to break. I will buy a bag, from anyone, if it's cute. Bought a few "cheap" bags (in the $50 range) and everyone one of them broke or lost shape after a month or so. As I said, I am very hard on purses (I carry a lot in them, they get heavy, and then deteriorate).

The Coach bags I have never do that. There are times I wish they would just fall apart so I could be justified in running out and getting a new one. Never happens.

I do like the MK bags, but won't buy one because of the hardware being too gaudy. They never used to be like that until about 2 years ago. I'm not sure what happened there with the designers!

Kate Spade is my favorite purse designer for looks, but to me they're not good "everyday" bags. For that, I don't think you can beat LV for quality and durability.

A year or so ago, I bought this Disney D&B, and I wanted so badly to love it - it's Disney without being obnoxiously-in-your-face-Disney (if that makes any sense) and it's nice and roomy:

However, it is the poorest quality D&B that I have ever owned. Within a couple of months, the design was rubbed off on the places that regularly got touched, and the leather changed to a pale brown and creased/cracked in those spots. The leather is thin, and the stitching on one handle began to fray after about three months. Soooooo disappointed.
I have the smaller version of this purse and I love it! I've had it for over a year and use it daily. I'm sad to hear that your purse is not holding up well. So far, so good for me. It really is a beautiful purse.

I carry Harvey's Seatbelt bags, and love them. They aren't crazy high end, but are very durable and stay new looking forever. I'm carrying this one now for the winter:
ETA They are made out of actual seat belts and are heavy...especially when full!

Everyone has a Coach bag. They are now for the masses. I prefer the quality of my MK and Kate Spade bags. LV bags are pretentious, IMO.

But turning your nose up at $400 purses because the rabble carry them isn't pretentious?

I have to say, I am not a girly girl. The purse I carry every single day is a woven bag I got from a street vendor on Curacao for about $10 six years ago. I have to say, I am really surprised at how well it has held up. That said, I have been thinking about a nicer bag.....though not nearly as nice as what many of you carry.

I tend to be hard on my bags and while I would like a nice leather bag I'm really not sure how that would work for me. I have a tendency to get sticky stuff on the lining of the purse. Obviously, if you have a leather bag, you can't just toss it in the washer like you can some cloth bags. But really, how do you clean the liner of a leather bag and does it ever really get "clean" or is it just "cleaner than it was"?

I have had my eye on one of the D&B Disney bags but if I spend that much on a bag it better last and I am hesitant due to some of the things I have heard about the quality.

Well, as I said earlier, I am superhard on my purses; however, I must admit that I've never put anything in it that would cause it to get sticky inside, so not sure what the solution would be for that.

My liners, though, do get dirty looking. Ink stains mainly. Anyway, on the more expensive purses at least the liner does not tear (even my leather purses have liners).
