Do you have to show proof of age to get "child" tickets and do they limit the rides that a child can get onto. Our son is very tall for his age and although he will still be nine years old when we go to Disney(until the day we get back home)he looks like he is 12 and will definitely want to ride all of the adult attractions. Wanted to know if it is worth it to get the cheaper ticket and if we do, will they give us a hard time at the entrance gates and/or limit the rides he can go on(making it not worth it)?? Thanks.

If your child is 9, then you can still buy him a child ticket. The attractions are not based on what age you are. The rougher rides are based on height to make sure that you won't fall out of the attraction. You may want to carry a copy of his birth certificate with you, or an ID card (I have ones for my kids that have their fingerprints on them in case anything, god forbid, should happen), but I doubt that you will be stopped.

When we went in '97 my oldest was 9 but he was very big for his age and still is a big guy. No one gave us any problems or questioned us about his age. I wouldnt worry about it if I were you. I havent heard any other stories either about Disney giving them a hard time about kids age.
And since most of the rides are based on height he should be able to do alot of those. I would just buy him the kids ticket since he still falls within that age group.

I don't think you'll have a problem either. We took my daughter when she was a month away from turning 3. She did not need a park pass, but I was worried because she had always been in the 100% in height. We never had any questions.

My daughter is turning 3 on the 4th day of our 5 day visit to WDW. I've gotten 5 day Park Hoppers for the rest of our family but didn't for her, I thought I'd just do a pass for the day of her bday and the next. We'll be celebrating though through the whole visit do you think anyone will question her not having a pass for the 1st 3 days when she's still 2? Wow, I hope that made sense!

We were in the world a month ago. DS is 9 almost 10. When I bought the tickets, they asked to see him. He was sitting on a bench about 100 yards away w/ dad. I pointed him out, and the was the last that was ever asked about it. He is pretty tall for his age, and I didn't bring any proof. He will be 10 by our next trip, so no more discounts:( .

MMARCAVA,
I'm not sure if things have changed, but back in 2000 my son turned 3 halfway through our two week vacation. My travel agent told me that whatever age he was at the beginning of the vacation carried through for the whole vacation (ie he wouldn't need a park pass OR pay for any buffet meals at all). I was skeptical and called Disney and they confirmed this for me. We went to the HDDR on his B-day and when I called to make reservations, I explained the situation yet again and they told me that I didn't have to pay for him for the HDDR. We didn't hide the fact that he was now three. In fact during the part of the show where they ask who is having a b-day, we got him to raise his hand. A performer brought the mike over to him and he proudly announced to the whole room that he was three. We never had a problem through our entire vacation.

Mike, thanks for the info! I hadn't even thought of that, I'll double check with Disney to make sure nothing has changed but that'll be terrific if we do not have to do any passes for her!!
