After reading all of the terrible trip reports from BCV stays as of late it has really made me wonder about something. We stayed there in March, our first DVC trip, and our room was clean with only a modest amount of wear and tear. We checked in early evening which is the norm for us. We generally drive most trips and arrive later in the day. If check-in time is 4pm, and most dissers saying they get there at 10am, noon, 2pm, etc. how in the world does that give housekeeping time to clean the rooms between guests? I realize that all of the resorts have the same policy as far as early check-in "may" be available, and BCV does seem to be having more problems than most getting rooms clean, but it just seems that it would be a nightmare for any hotel/resort to get rooms turned over so quickly. Maybe it should just be policy that no one CAN check-in early. Wouldn't it be easier to coordinate mousekeeping then??? I agree that anyone with a complaint should allert the powers that be, but I can see how this problem would be tough for management to fix. Just my opinion.....Lacee

I think those that get a room before 11 a.m. (I have several times) just happen to arrive when the night before they had some empty rooms.

You are correct, housekeeping needs time to clean the rooms. I think some of the "problem" rooms, are just a mix up between housekeeping releasing a room and the front desk "thinking" the room (s) has been cleaned.

When people check in at any DVC resort they do not necessarily get the room. They are not told what room they have either, but are give a telephone number to call to see if it is ready. So if you check in at say 10 pm you still may not get your room until 4 pm. The room being ready and check-in most of the time have nothing to do with one another, then again if you are lucky you can get the room when you check in.

Maybe it should just be policy that no one CAN check-in early.

The problem would be all of the money that Disney would lose from people like myself and many others who check in and head to the parks.

In order to use Disney transportation, you are supposed to have a key to the world card. Without checking in, you wouldn't have it. Think of all of the lost meals, souveniers and what about the UPH tickets they sell? Disney would lose a ton of $ if they did away with early check in.

If everyone who arrived early had to wait until 4PM to check in, could you imagine what the lines would be like at the front desk? It would probably be a mad house!

If a resort was not full the night before, there can be rooms that were cleaned the day before available for early check-ins.

I've stayed at BWV 5 times, 3 of the times I arrived before 3:00pm. All 3 times our room was not ready, we called back later to get our room #.

I don't know that housekeeping feels pressure to get rooms done early because people checked in early. If the room is not ready before 4:00pm, then it's not ready and people will just have to wait, plain and simple.

I don't think getting a room key, leaving your stuff at the resort, and hitting the parks is any problem at all. I did not mean to make it sound like that. But obviously there is some problem getting rooms ready, whether it be mis-communication or whatever. Someone made the point that when people are able to get into the room early, and find it clean, that that room was probably not occupied the night before. Is it possible that BCV has a higher occupancy rate, or at least has recently, than the other DVC resorts? I know this is no excuse, and problems still need to be addressed, but this could be part of it. I think that all WDW staff would be trained in the same way, so I find it hard to believe that the staff at BCV just doesn't clean the same as other mousekeepers do.

I think that the problem here is that the people were *told* that thier room would be ready very soon. I think if they had been told to go do something else (nicer than that though ) then the room would've been ready when they came back and it wouldn't have been a problem. If I was told that my room was almost ready (would be ready soon) and I had to wait *4* hours then I would've been a bit perturbed too. I'm not convinced that the problem is that people are expecting thier room to be ready whenever they get there, even if its before 4, its a communication problem with the desk staff. As for us, if our room is ready then great, if not then we head out and do something else.

I think it should be more like other timeshares. You can check in at any time, but your room will be ready at 4:00. Makes perfect sense to me, and the electronic locks can be programed so that the new key works only after 4:00.
