? about changing seats on plane

Hi,
I just checked my seats on Delta's website and they had moved them. I went in and moved them to a different location. We will be traveling with my 8 and 5 yr old. Are there certain seats that kid's are not allowed to sit in? I thought that I had read that some where. I don't want to keep changing my seats only to find out that I have stuck my kids in an area that they aren't supposed to be in!

I know they can't sit at the window seat in an emergency exit row. I don't know about the rest of that row. I would think that's the only requirement.

They cannot sit in an exit row. That said if, for some reason the type of plane changes, the computer will automatically (and seemingly random) assign new seats. You will just need to keep on eye on your flight and seats for any changes and fix them as they come up.

If there are any children under 15 in the travelling party, NO ONE in that party can sit in the exit row. When you accept a seat in the exit row, you accept the responsibility of helping to evacuate the plane in case of an emergency landing. If you are worried about finding a child elsewhere in the plane you will be useless for that, so they don't want you there.

There are additional rules if a child is sitting in an approved carseat. Carseats normally must be placed in the window position, and cannot be placed in the rows directly in front of or behind the exit rows.

Perhaps this is specific to Delta but on Airtran, it would not be true. I put my husband and me in the exit row and Grandma with grandkids behind us in a regular row. No problem at all with that approach.

It is the case on most airlines but some airlines enforce it more than others.
I have seen Delta enforce this rule as well as SWA, my dh couldn't sit in a exit row with me and my dd's in another row once the FA realized we were traveling together. The FA explained that my Dh would be more concerned with taking care of his family then doing the exit row duties and therefore was ineligible.

It's an FAA regulation, it applies to all US-based commercial airlines. Some airlines are more vigilant about enforcing it than others. Some FA's will look the other way if there are multiple adults in the party and at least one is seated with the children, but technically they should not do so.

Definitely keep an eye on it. I'm flying Delta in October and I checked it a couple of weeks ago and they moved us from the third row of coach on an MD88 to the last row of a 757! We're connecting in Atlanta, it would have taken forever to get off from row 43! I moved us back to the front half of coach with no problem. I can understand changing seats on an equipment change but why all the way to the back? There were lots of empty seats.

I don't think you can choose exit row in advance on Delta unless you have medallion status.
