Has anyone stayed in an inside room who previously said they "had" to have a window? What about on the TA cruises? I have never slept in total darkness before. Is there a plug for a nightlight? For the cruise next week, I booked a cat 11, thinking I could try it out for a week. But guess what! The upgrade fairy paid me a visit! I am now in a balcony!! :woohoo: So, I really want to book the WB TA when I'm on the boat but I'm unsure about 14 days in the dark. Has anyone left their TV on the "bridge" channel to see what it looks like outside? Does that help?

TIA!

I love the darkness but wouldn't mind a fairy upgrade. You could use a nightlight or leave it on the bridge but it will be black at night. I sleep so well with the A/C going and a dark room. Very relaxing.

If you turn the light on in the closet and leave the closest door slightly open you have a built-in nightlight:thumbsup2 We stayed in an inside cabin on our first cruise and I never thought it was really pitch black in the room, I could see the light outside the door slighty, but I am also OCD and notice everything:lmao::lmao:

There's a glow thing in the bathroom...there's a light in the closet...you can leave the closet or bathroom doors slightly ajar. You can leave the TA on. We did a Panama Canal crossing in a 10 with no problems....would have been an 11, but none were available!

Well, one year ago I did the WB Panama in my own little cave and LOVED it. :thumbsup2

Actually, I found returning to my room a break from all the stimulation of shipboard activities and the wonderful group of DISers I was cruising with. Also they are GREAT for afternoon naps. ::yes::

If they haven't gone to GTY status, try for a Cat 11 on deck 7 aft. You are then just steps away from the small public verandah at the back of the ship.

Also, leave you stateroom TV on the bridge channel, with the sound off, and as the sun rises your TV screen will brighten up. So if you wake up in the early hours of the morning you'll know that a new day has officially started.

And finally, there are a GREAT bunch of DISers on this cruise...lots of potential playmates! :grouphug:

Thanks for the replies. The closet light is a great tip! I didn't want to leave the bathroom light on because it's too bright when I have to go... which at my age, is pretty often.

A TA is one of my "dream" cruises but I'd have to go alone. My DD might be able to go but my DGD would be in school and wouldn't be able to miss that much. Would I feel alone or out of place? I am pretty good alone in my home but I have my TV and computer to keep me company and I talk to real people at work - I'm pretty pathetic, I guess. The WB leaves on my birthday so I guess it'd be the perfect birthday present to myself!

Linda, there are quite a few of us 'grandma aged' ladies going on the WBTA and quite a few singles of all ages, so you would have plenty of playmates when you want them.

Once you choose, come over to the 'meets' threads and say hi. Don't let the size of the group scare you...just jump in. There will be a large number of DISers on both cruises and lots of fun activities to participate in.

Jackie, I've been to your meets thread. :sad2: The website, too. (I am obsessed) You guys look like a lot of fun. But there are a TON of you, it is kinda overwhelming! I have to decide first if I can afford 2 cruises next year. I think we might go try RCL for the family first (the Med and Baltic are too expensive, besides I've been to the Baltic on HAL) and then the Sept WB TA. Maybe... I WILL be booking something next week while onboard. Maybe 2 somethings... :rolleyes1 We'll see. Anyone have any idea when Cat 12 GTY's might be released?

I think cat. 10, 11, and 12's are already gone for the WB TA, but keep an eye out as people cancel and rooms become available. I too was concerned about feeling clausterphobic in a cat. 11 with 4 people on a long trip like the TA. Hoping for the best and figure the boat is big and we will have to make a point of having a hiding spot for a 15 minute time out during the trip.

After 6 cruises I don't think I ever noticed the light in the closet! :rotfl: Learn something new everyday.

If the light isn't on when you open the closet, there is an on/off switch on the light. The closet light really makes a great night light. If the seas are rough and the closet door won't stay open a bit to shed some light, we leave the bathroom light on and shut the door. There's enough light coming from under the door to provide a decent night light.

We stayed in a Cat. 11 and had no problem with the darkness. We did
have a nightlight and a digital clock so we knew what time it was. Also,
we did leave the bathroom door cracked. Our kids had made friends with
some other teens in The Stack and stayed up later than we did usually
sooooo.....they wanted to sleep late in the morning so, the dark room
worked out for them;)

You think it's overwhelming NOW....I know of at least another four DIS families that are going that said they won't start posting before the one year till cruise date. :lmao: I knew there was a reason your user name looked familiar. ;)

If the lower cats are not available when you are cruising, book the lowest that is and you can always downgrade when stuff opens up (and it will).
