??? about buying resales less than 150 pts

We are not DVC members (yet) and the packet says we must purchase a minimum of 150 points to join. So, what would happen of we purchased only 50 points from a resale site. Could we do that or would we have to be members? TIA

The 150 point minimum is only for purchases from Disney. In fact, the ability to buy less than 150 is often cited as one of the positives of resale.

Don't forget, however, that with resale you will probably have to pay closing costs. Those usually have a minimum of about $350, and then go up from there. With a 100 point contract, those closing costs could easily add $3.50 - $4.00 per point to your cost. Resales of less than 150 points also often sell at a premium above larger contracts at the same resort.

However...once you get in, you can buy add-ons from Disney in quantities as low as 25 points (50, if you need Disney financing).

everyone is SO helpful here! thanks SO much! DH and I had thought we coudl not "buy in" unless it was the 150 minimum, but this opens up all sorts of new opportunity for us! thank you, thank you!

The smaller contracts are also in great demand. If you are truly interested in buying less than 150 points, it would be a good idea to call some of the resale brokers and ask them to contact you immediately if any new contracts become available...the early bird gets the worm!!!

We have purchased our 2 contracts, both less than 150 points through resellers. We are looking to purchase our 3rd (less than 100) again through resale. Definitely can be done!!!
