This has nothing to do with my beliefs... but isnt there some better way for the people who hold signs with horrible pictures of mutilated fetus's to get thier message across? What does that serve? Really, this is not about pro-choice or pro-life... this is about the uselessness of holding those signs on the street corner. :confused3 Honestly, it would not make me think you have all the answers. When I see this one guy pushing his sign towards my truck I sort of think he's an idiot. I'm not even going to planned parenthood! Im just driving down the main street! It seems like that behavior is counter productive to his particular cause.

That's just sick, we don't need to see graphic images to know what is an abortion.

i dont know, seems to bother prochoice people the most, so seems to be working. doesnt seem to be stretching the truth. seems to be a pretty good, albeit, gross depiction of what the procedure is all about.

PRO womans choice here.

I do know that in some cases young persons are very cavalier about the whole abortion issue, they consider it no big deal.

I am sure the right to life groups are trying to hit home with this, I just hope that smaller kids were not caught in the cross hairs.

I am pro-life and would never spend my time holding such a sign, but I think the theory behind it is kind of like showing a picture of what cigarette smoking does to your lungs, or what eating too much fat does to your arteries. Some people need a visual to undertand what is truly going on. I guess if the sign made one woman change her mind, it would be worth it.

We see this all the time and while I don't agree with it, especially since I generally have my kids in the car and they want to know why that guy is holding a scary picture. I assume they do it because they think that just maybe they will change the mind of someone headed to planned parenthood since they are generally standing outside of that place (btw if it works on one it's worth it). Also around here they are generally older folks and probably don't have anything better to do:confused3 .

I totally don't agree. In one hand they are saying this is life, on the other hand they cavalierly splash the image of a deceased human being on a sign, with a scripture in pink glitter underneath. If it was an image of a human, such would be blasphemous.

No offense to anyone but the thing that gets me about these signs is that while they are shown in support of the protection and value of every human life, the people holding them seem to forget that there are quite often very young children who also see these pictures.

JMO but young kids don't need to see and shouldn't be subjected to these images. Young kids ask questions and they're not of an age where they need, much less can understand about abortion. I'm sorry but that's not a conversation I want to have with my child when the only thing we were trying to do was drive (or walk) down the street. And if I do decide to have that talk with my child someday, I'll choose to have it - I don't want the conversation imposed on me by the fact that my child just saw one of those pictures.

I don't like the very graphic representations of what the OP is referencing, I think it is unfortunate that our children are being thrust into an adult world way too early.
But as long as we're talking about having to 'splain stuff to our kiddoes before their time....

is anyone else sick & tired of all the male disfunction ("ED") prescripion medication ads that are all over the TV?!? Why should I have to be sitting here watching primetime Sci Fi channel with my DD & have *any* of the various ED-med ads come on (and while we're at it, could someone please also 'splain to me why it it is considered sexy for a couple to be in individual bathtubs on a beach in these ED ads?)?!?

rant over.
agnes!
PS - OP, could you please consider modifying your thread title?

Well that is certainly what bothers me the most. My kids are sitting right there. That is not right, no matter your belief. That is a total disregard for the kids that were already NOT aborted. For the record, I'm NOT pro-choice and I find the tactic terrible.

One of my friends is prolife and actually had a change of heart about those signs. Because her young children were in the car at the stoplight with her while those signs were being waved at them. It really upset her. So it did change someone's mind...

not to mention that many of these signs seem to be sporting images of dead nearly term babies...last time I checked those kinds of "abortion" were illegal and were definitely not being performed at planned parenthood. That's what bothers me most. Showing people pictures of a dead near term baby is not showing people what happens when you have an abortion.
Our former local planned parenthood was on a street where a montessori(sp?) school moved in...Protesters didn't care and the city finally had to step in and tell them they couldn't be out there with the signs when kids were being dropped off and picked up from schools. It had gotten that bad and that many complaints.

Thank you! It's always bothered me that they would show these near term pictures when the vast majority of abortions are performed at or under eight weeks gestation.

I used to see these on the way to work, my DS saw them and was freaked out. So I took him with me into the planned parenthood to make a donation.

The thing that kills me is that alot of times, protesters are present at clinics or health care facilities where services OTHER than abortions are taking place. If I'm on my way to Planned Parenthood for an exam and pap, what gives someone the right to "assume" I am there for an abortion and that I need to be saved? You don't know me, you don't know why I am there. If I saw a someone picketing my PP when I'm there, I'd probably get my butt kicked for asking them what gives them the right to terrorize people? I'd confront them - if they feel ok getting in my business, I'll get in theirs. I'd be nice as pie, but they'd better be ok defending their position to me if they feel I need to defend mine to them.

And on the flip side, pro-choicers don't picket churches with signs saying "Kill 'em all" - going to the extreme to get attention and push an agenda. Why is it ok for one side but not the other?

Crud, I just replied and my post poofed. :confused3

ETA: I lied, THERE it is! lol. Never mind!

I'm pro-life, and they bug me more than anything. No one needs to be exposed to that. No one, no matter their feelings on abortion.

I personally have never seen/heard about pro-choicers picketing churches or anywhere with signs saying "kill em all". :confused3 Kill who all, what are they protesting?

As far as the OP goes, I have never the signs or protests, except on the news, but I would have a huge problem if I did see them and my young children were in the car.

I think they are completely irresponsible where children are involved, and I find the signs to be in poor taste. While I am all in favour of freedom of speech, I don't agree that protesting with graphic signs such as these is any way to get a point across. I find the signs disturbing and I hate coming across them.

I am pro life btw.
