Abigail Disney vs Bob Iger

Sure, new tech is a winner. If you want to know where we're heading, read Ready Player One. I know I brought up Hunger Games, but RPO is a bit more on the nose. The rich corporate types get ridiculously rich, the rest of the population gets so poor they are crowding into stacked abandoned semi trailers and mobile homes. And they spend all their free time in an immersive Virtual Reality Game.

The Government isn't driving innovation, they are even losing the battle for driving social programs. Go give a listen to the latest hearings about privatization of the USPS, and other government functions. A few people get lots of money when these changes are made, and everyone else loses.

Actually, the House hearings have been super interesting lately with the newbies asking questions. Did anyone else know that the GOVERNMENT pays the research costs for new drugs, then turns the results over to the Pharm companies, without getting a cut or anything? I was gobsmacked by that one.

the question becomes it is the desire to make money or merely feeding the wants (not needs) of society.

I believe (or maybe hope) it is possible to run a company that exists to feed the wants of society without destroying the environment, overworking and underpaying their employees, etc.

It was kind of news to me, but the multi billionaires that started some of these big tech companies (not Disney), are not benevolent people with other's interests at heart. I don't know why I ever thought otherwise. Maybe because the Gates seemed so nice.
