Can anyone tell me the date when the Aberdeen/Gatwick flights stop please?

DH's boss's daughter is flying home to North Carolina via Gatwick at end of January and her flight from Aberdeen is still running, but his DW is going in May and she still thinks she's flying from Aberdeen via Gatwick. She hasn't been told any different yet.

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

We were also booked to travel from Aberdeen to Orlando via Gatwick in May.

BA didn't advise me of the fact that they'd changed my ressie, they just went ahead and rescheduled us for a similar flight time to Heathrow instead. :sad2: I only found out because I checked my ressie online after reading about the changes.

I had to call them to amend our flights yet again, because the timing of the "new" flight to Heathrow was not suitable for making our Orlando flight which is still out of Gatwick!

There has been a few of us on the boards that have had to change our flights :headache:

This might be of interest to those flying from Aberdeen that FLYBE are introducing three flights a day to Gatwick from March. The e-mail I had states they have been in negotiation with the airport since BA decided to pull out. Fares from £24.99 (plus the usual extras I expect)

Hope this helps:) :)

Indeed, seats currently available for 4p each way for July and Aug :thumbsup2

£49.98 return in total :sad1:

Hi...a newbie here!

Can I just say a HUGE thank you to DISNEYPARS and Jakey Rowling for your replies. You have just made my day :worship: I didn't know about Flybe doing the Gatwick route, had absolutely no idea. I was on the verge of booking flights from Manchester and facing the prospect of the train to Edinburgh and flights to Manchester. You have just saved me so much time and stress. Thank you!

And, if he's reading...thanks to my friend Nick who gave me the link to these boards...I owe you a drink! :thumbsup2

Too much excitment...I've got a headache now :headache:

Remember to check your baggage allowance!! This is why we decided to fly with BA from Edinburgh as we take our full baggage allowance with BA.

Took this from Flybe website

Economy class services:

Cabin baggage allowance 10kg.
Maximum permitted dimensions for cabin baggage: 50cm x 35cm x 23cm.

Flybe Economy Plus class services:

Cabin baggage allowance 10kg.
Maximum permitted dimensions for cabin baggage: 50cm x 35cm x 23cm.

I dont see the cabin baggage weight as too much of an issue to be honest which you refer to.
The FLYBE dimensions are a little smaller than virgin (23 x 36 x 56cm) but can weigh up to 10Kg, virgin 6kg). Depends on how you travel I suppose.

More important is the hold luggage weight usually.
The current FLYBE website quotes 20KG for economy hold luggage, 30Kg for economy plus which is OK for a low cost carrier but as you say you need to pay attention to.

BA is 23Kg domestic unless you have a single ticket to take advantage of any transatlantic allowance (2 x 23Kg).

https://www.flybe.com/flightInfo/1baggage.htm

See note 12 on the above link,
Any passengers travelling on a through ticket with an international flight sector on another carrier will not be charged. Please note both sectors must be on same ticket using through fare.
Worth checking out.

Sorry I pasted the wrong bit:rotfl:

I just wanted to remind everyone as it will be a factor to some! We do use our full BA baggage allowance (certainly on the way back!!)

It's a good point you make.

I was just pointing out that it's possible to get FLYBE to honour the BA transatlantic allowance if you're on a single ticket.

It's not always possible though if you are booking the transatlantic before the domestic are available, or BA drop you in it.

Quick? They shot up in price for the dates I wanted in the blink of an eye - within a couple of hours of it being announced on the teatime news  Just as well really as I found a decent enough deal tonight flying out of Manchester so it's all booked :woohoo:

Maybe I'll sleep tonight....or maybe not :tigger:

It's these Aberdonians, there will be those flying down to Gatwick and back in the same day because it's a good deal.:rotfl:

Still, as long as you found a cure for the headache.:thumbsup2

Hi Paula and welcome along !! What part of Aberdeen do you live in?

I guess I'm very very close to you !! :lmao:

Hi Sue

I'm in Aberdeen itself so yes, not very far away. :wave2: I hope I didn't disturb you with my excitment last night! It's more than 16 years since we were in Orlando and it's been 12 years since we had a proper holiday so I am a bit giddy about it ;)

264 days and counting....
Paula
