Abercrombie or Hollister

I have 3 hoodies from A & F and the quality is real good. I love the music in hollister tho..

But my friend went to A & F when she went to america on vacation, and she's quite a big girl (she admits it herself) and when she asked if they stocked XL she got a 'strange' look. :confused3 That might not be true, thats just what she told me.

Neither.

Why?
They both smell horrible.
Half- to three-quarters- naked models isn't my idea of clothing advertisement.
Trying to encourage sexual thoughts/behaviours in minors (specifically kids under 13).
Clothing with questionable racist slogans.
Poorly made clothing (at least, it seems to always be their stuff that I get as gifts [I refuse to spend my own money or directly ask for any of their clothes, but turning down a gift is just rude] is the first to wear out).
Lack of sufficient larger sizes. I went in once, a while ago, looking for jeans when I thought they were a "cool" company. There was an entire wall of jeans- fully stocked- and not one pair was larger than size 7. Apparently, I'm a hippo according to the local A&F.

::yes::
You can smell the stores before you can see them.
I also don't fit in any of their clothes... Come on, Abercrombie and Hollister, size 10 isn't really that big.

they are both owned by the same company, the Abercrombie and Fitch Company. That's why their clothes look the same.

I knew that, which makes me think, why waste time with like 5 different companies? Why not combine?

they want to have different types of stores and not ones that sell the same things. Hollister is targeted towards the fantasy of Southern California and the beach scene. Abercrombie is more of an East Coast heritage, as well as Casual Luxury. This link will help describe their brands better: http://www.abercrombie.com/anf/careers/brands.html

imo they're all equally ridiculous. They don't sell clothes, they sell sex.

I wear AE clothes but I like quiksilver and more of a skater/surfer look. I usually am a t-shirt jeans/cargo shorts guy and I wear clothes I am used to like shirts I get from basketball and camps.lol

I have to agree because whenever I walk by there is always a shirt-less guy hooking up with a girl in a bikini pic on the walls

WTH?! Are you serious?!
I'm sorry, but that's just...wow.

yea I know what you mean lol. They come across as sexual or w/e because they want their models to be good looking and advertise their clothing well. When people mention the word Abercrombie or Hollister they want people to think of fit and good looking models and not just any type of person. They want their brand to be distinct and not like others.

My friend has one of their bags as a book cover right now. It's a guy in a relaxed pose with no shirt on and you can barely see the tops of the shorts that he's wearing. Then it folds over to where she cut off just the bottom of the bag (she even left the handles on it to carry it better!).

That's an effective way to sell sex, not clothes. If it weren't for the fact that Abercrombie and Fitch was stamped onto the bag, I'd have to start wondering what was being advertised.

Clothing advertisements should feature clothing.
