We've found ABD to actually be generous on the room pricing compared to other groups with whom we have travelled. Our last several trips were the four of us instead of five (DS having long since grown and moved on), and we paid as a quad, even where quads were not available and we received two rooms. On one trip, another couple cancelled at the last minute, and ABD let the twins (14 at the time) have the extra room instead of us sharing one as a quad, and they made arrangements for this for our pre and post stays as well, with no additional charge. That was especially appreciated. At Kapama in South Africa, the twins were 12 and shared a room together. This was suggested by ABD! The rooms were "kind of" connected to ours, but not totally. The twins thought this was one of their favorite parts (Okay, they had about 25 top of the list favorite parts on that trip).
I've seen another company with extra rooms from cancellations not make them available to guests, and the guides used them for extra stuff. So ABD can be considered generous...
